Kamala Wants to Kill the Filibuster, Harris Keeps Hedging, Kamala Rewards Ruhle
Join Jim and Greg as they serve up all bad and crazy martinis. Today, they discuss Kamala Harris wanting to kill the Senate filibuster to codify Roe v. Wade, her ongoing refusal to confirm whether she still holds the same positions on several controversial issues, and MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle landing an interview with Harris just days after publicly saying that Harris doesn’t need to answer tough questions because Donald Trump is such a threat to our nation.
First, they dive into the vice president’s call to suspend the Senate filibuster to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law. Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema – the one-time Democrats who prevented their colleagues from killing the filibuster in the previous Congress – immediately denounced the idea. Jim and Greg explain why ending the filibuster would set a dangerous precedent, ultimately allowing Democrats to dismantle it for all legislative priorities.
They then shift to Harris’s refusal to confirm whether her views on controversial issues like the death penalty, citizenship for some illegal immigrants, and decriminalizing sex work have changed. Despite repeated questions, the Vice President also avoids discussing her stance on a California ballot initiative that would increase penalties for minor theft and drug crimes. Jim and Greg not only blast her for trying to obscure her radical positions, but somehow wind up venting about Democrats – and a few Republicans – who failed to keep their word back in the ’80s and ’90s.
Finally, they roll their eyes as MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle lands an interview with Harris just days after Ruhle went on “Real Time with Bill Maher” and said Harris didn’t need to answer tough questions or clarify policy positions because Trump is so horrible that voting for Harris was an obvious choice. Could this interview be anything other than an Oprah-style campaign ad?
Biden’s Middle East Bungling, Why Kamala Wants Another Debate, Walz Won’t Mind His Business
Join Jim and Greg as they take on three big martinis, as they discuss the escalating war between Israel and Hezbollah and how Biden botched the Israel-Hamas talks, why Kamala Harris is so eager to have another debate with Donald Trump, how Tim Walz wants to be in your face about politics, and much more.
First, they document the latest developments in the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah and remind the media Hezbollah was firing a lot of rockets into Israel long before the pager explosions last week. They also highlight a Wall Street Journal story saying there probably won’t be an Israel-Hamas ceasefire during Biden’s presidency and that Biden’s team is finally coming to realize what we knew all along – Hamas doesn’t want a deal.
Next, they react to Vice President Harris accepting an invitation to a CNN presidential debate on October 23. So far, Trump is declining the offer. But after two months of campaign fluff and avoiding press conferences and most interviews, why is Harris so intent on another debate?
Meanwhile, Greg reported back in 2020 that the State of Michigan sent an absentee voter application to his childhood address, meaning he was (and maybe still is) on Michigan’s voter rolls more than 20 years after moving out of the state. Now there’s another story of Michigan voter roll insanity that’s even worse.
Finally, they shake their heads as Minnesota Gov. Tim “Mind Your Own Damn Business” Walz now thinks you need to confront people in the grocery store about this election and tells those who just want to stay away from politics that they don’t have that option.
Kamala’s Clueless Economics, GOP’s Carolina Crisis, Harris Free from Biden Blame?
Join Jim and Greg as they discuss just how clueless Kamala Harris is on economic policy, the revolting allegations against North Carolina GOP gubernatorial nominee Mark Robinson, and Doug Emhoff saying Harris shouldn’t get any blame for Biden’s presidency.
First, they shake their heads as Vice President Harris incoherently rambles her way through a town hall with Oprah Winfrey that was filled with softball questions. Jim says her inability to give convincing arguments is a major stumbling block in Kamala’s efforts to prove she is up to the job.
Next, they recoil at the myriad of sexual and racial allegations leveled at Mark Robinson, the Republican nominee for Governor of North Carolina. After wading through the moral and ethical muck contained in the reporting, they fume that the North Carolina GOP apparently knew there were ticking time bombs related to Robinson but championed his candidacy anyway. (Parents may want to be sure kids are not around when you listen to this martini).
Finally, they get another laugh as Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff says his wife should not be held responsible for the performance of the Biden administration or have been expected to achieve any of her current campaign goals while serving as Vice President of the United States.

Trump & the Teamsters, Iran Envoy’s Clearance Chaos, Pelosi Saya Kamala Won Open Primary
Join Jim and Greg as they react to Donald Trump dominating the vote among Teamsters Union members but the union refusing to offer any endorsement, the State Department stripping Iran envoy Robert Malley of his security clearance but never bothering to enforce it, and Nancy Pelosi insisting Kamala Harris won an open primary to become the Democrats’ nominee.
First, they highlight the dramatic shift among Teamsters Union members, who moved from favoring Joe Biden over Trump by eight points to supporting Trump over Kamala Harris by 27 points. But somehow that lopsided margin was not enough for Trump to get the endorsement. But the Teamsters also refused to endorse Harris. So did Trump’s royal treatment of the Teamsters at the RNC pay off or not?
Next, they express frustration over a State Department Inspector General’s report revealing that, even after Iran envoy Robert Malley lost his clearance, he continued to access classified information due to a lack of oversight at the highest levels. They also react to reports of Iran hacking the Trump campaign, attempting to relay sensitive information to Biden and Harris.

Single-Family Fiction, Trump Rejects Future Debate, ‘Appalling’ Secret Service Review
Join Jim and Greg as they close the week with an important correction from Thursday’s edition, strong thoughts on Trump’s rejection of another debate and the questionable characters in his inner circle, and startling indications that the performance of the Secret Service on the day of the Trump assassination attempt was even worse than we thought.
First, they apologize for basing their Thursday story about a Maryland county considering major zoning changes that allegedly threatened existing and future single-family homes on an erroneous story from a local ABC news station. They explain what the proposed changes would actually do and why that news source is unlikely to get the benefit of the doubt again.
Next, they explain why they think Trump was wrong to reject another debate with Kamala Harris, pointing out that even with somewhat biased moderators, a debate is still the best chance to make gettable voters aware of Kamala’s radical positions and failed tenure as vice president. They also chide Trump for allowing a figure like Laura Loomer into his inner circle – which is almost guaranteed to make things worse.
Finally, they’re stunned to see staunch lefty Connecticut Sen. Dick Blumenthal predict the American people will be “appalled” by the egregious failings of the U.S. Secret Service in connection to the attempted assassination of Trump on July 13. And Blumenthal also blasted the Department of Homeland Security for its lack of cooperation in the investigation.

The Debate: Kamala’s Lying & Baiting, Trump’s Distracted Rambling, Moderators’ Bias
Join Jim and Greg as they dissect Tuesday night’s presidential debate and how everyone on that stage was underwhelming in their performances – from Kamala Harris dodging or lying on the hard questions to Donald Trump missing opportunities and getting easily distracted to the moderators playing favorites. They also update yesterday’s Taylor Swift story and reflect on 23 years since the horrific 9/11 terrorist attacks.
First, they break down Kamala’s performance, particularly how she refused to answer challenging questions about the Biden-Harris record on the economy, the border, and her many sudden policy changes. They also note specific areas where she tried to sneak to the right of Trump and her clear strategy of baiting Trump away from discussing the issues most damaging to her.
Next, they explain how Trump kept falling for the rabbit trails offered by Harris, his failure to highlight some of the most devastating aspects of the Biden-Harris record, misstating other attempts to land punches, and how he looked generally unprepared for the event. They also highlight a few of his zingers against Harris and Biden, but even those turned out to be missed opportunities.
Then, they evaluate ABC News moderators David Muir and Lindsey Davis for their one-sided, questionable fact-checking and for offering some real softball questions to Harris.
Finally, Jim and Greg share their thoughts as the nation solemnly marks the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 Al Qaeda terrorist attacks against New York City, the Pentagon, and Flight 93 in Pennsylvania.

A Winsome Campaign Kickoff, Previewing the Trump-Harris Debate, Lefties Mad at Taylor Swift
First, they highlight Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears officially kicking off her run for governor next year. It’s a tough state, sorry, commonwealth, for the GOP to win in and a rough primary could make it even tougher. Jim urges Virginia Republicans to avoid an intraparty bloodbath if at all possible. Sears is very clearly running as a continuation of the “common sense conservatism” of popular GOP Gov. Glenn Youngkin, who is term limited.
Next, they dig into what to expect in tonight’s first (and possibly only) presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. They consider how Harris will deal with questions about her supposedly changing positions on a wide variety of issues – changes that tack away from her far left views from the 2020 campaign. They also consider which tactics might be employed by both candidates to throw the other one off message and what to expect from the ABC News moderators this evening.
Then, they try to shake it off over lefties developing bad blood with Taylor Swift over her failure to publicly endorse Kamala Harris thus far in the campaign. Will Swift fall in line by the end of this cruel summer or will she be an anti-hero for the Democrats all the way to Election Day? Either way, Jim says this is taking the connection between celebrities and politics to a new, unhealthy level, where failure to get politically involved is now demonized.
Finally, they offer a short tribute to acting legend James Earl Jones, who died on Monday.

The Debate is On, Russia & the Influencers, Kamala’s Continuous ‘No Comment’
Join Jim and Greg as they discuss Kamala Harris finally agreeing to debate Donald Trump next week, the DOJ’s indictment of Russians accused of paying online influencers in the U.S., and how Harris is refusing to take positions on key issues.
First, they’re glad that next week’s debate will go forward as scheduled after a lot of efforts to rework the agreement – from Trump demanding more debates to Harris insisting on unmuted microphones (which she failed to get). They explain the vapid reason Kamala wanted unmuted mics and whether this will be the final time she will take serious questions before Election Day.
Next, they react to the Justice Department’s indictment of two Russians accused of money laundering and failing to register as foreign agents. The indictment also refers to a lot of money being spent on a media company featuring six prominent online influencers here in the U.S. The indictment says those commentators had no knowledge of the arrangement and are not being charged. Defenders of the commentators allege this is simply a return to the government’s Russian collusion narrative from eight years ago.
Finally, they hammer Kamala Harris and her campaign for constantly dodging straightforward questions about her ever-evolving positions on many issues. The latest? Their refusal to say whether Harris would sign a legislative electric vehicle mandate that she sponsored while in the U.S. Senate.

Where Trump Needs to Focus, Kamala’s Empty Campaign, Impact of the Switch
Listen to “Where Trump Needs to Focus, Kamala’s Empty Campaign, Impact of the Switch” on Spreaker.
Jim and Greg are getting an early start on Labor Day weekend, so their assessment of the Kamala Harris CNN interview will have to wait for another day. Instead, they examine the state of both campaigns and what the long term impact of the DNC switching candidates will be on future election cycles.
First, they look at the Trump campaign and the massive opportunity and challenge facing the Trump-Vance ticket. They stress that Trump has a huge advantage if he stays on message about the disaster that has unfolded on the watch of both Harris and President Biden. From the border to inflation to an unstable world to the left’s radical cultural agenda, the path to victory is right there. But can Trump stay disciplined enough to focus on that all the way to the finish line?
Next, they examine the Harris campaign and it’s ongoing effort to make this an election about history, momentum, and joy rather than anything substantive. So far Harris has abandoned more positions than she has established in this campaign, and Democrats are actively encouraging her not to get more specific in order to attract more voters. Can this empty approach actually work?
Finally, they consider how the Dems’ swapping out Biden for Harris might impact future election cycles. There is clearly an advantage to avoid a grueling two-year campaign and making a three-month sprint to Election Day. So will we see shorter primary seasons or some other new approach as the parties seek the upper hand?
