On Tuesday, President Obama is expected to announce new fuel economy standards that will mandate a 30 percent reduction in the greenhouse gas emissions of cars and trucks by 2016. Is this a wise move towards greater efficiency or an even greater burden on the auto industry that will only make cars and trucks less safe?
