Over the weekend, President Obama and some of his subordinates said the public option was not an ‘essential’ component of health care reform legislation. Since when? Can they be taken seriously that they are willing to scrap the government-run health care program? Why are they so suddenly willing to embrace health care co-operatives? Are they the same thing by a different name? What other components of the health care plan should disturb us? We ask Grace-Marie Turner of the Galen Institute.
