The Center for Immigration Studies has released two new reports that ought to impact the immigration reform debate. One focuses on the jobs many people assume illegal immigrants do because Americans don’t want to do them – landscaping, taxi driving, construction, housekeeping, etc. But is that true? What percentage of those jobs are held by native born Americans and how many are done by legal or illegal immigrants? The other report focuses on the staggering levels of unemployment for the least educated Americans – the people most impacted when jobs are taken by those illegally entering the country. Just how high are the jobless rates for those people most impacted by the influx of illegals? We ask Steven Camarota, director of research at the Center for Immigration Studies.
