Military experts are in agreement that the armed forces badly need new air tankers to replace the current ones that have been in service since the 1950s. So why can’t the Pentagon get its act together and award a contract to build them? Why has the bidding process started and stopped multiple times? Which company is ready to go right now in building the tankers? And how big of a difference could these new tankers make for our military? We ask retired Air Force Gen. Tom McInerney.
