Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America tackle ESPN’s decision to stop with the politics and stick with the sports. They also cheer Democratic Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards for vowing to sign a heartbeat bill if it reaches his desk. And they step carefully while discussing San Francisco spending more than $70 million to remove human waste from the streets – and it isn’t solving the problem.

Trump Derails California Train Project, Gillibrand Slams Federalism, SAT Overhaul: Adversity or Diversity?
Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America have a lively discussion of the Trump administration’s withdrawal of federal funding for California’s high-speed rail project. Democratic presidential hopeful Kirsten Gillibrand says states would no longer be able to legislate on abortion if she gets elected. And Jim offers a radical counter-proposal after learning an adversity score was added to the SAT.

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, who until recently was silent on the debate sweeping the nation over her state’s anti-abortion bill, certainly had something to say when it came to signing the bill into law. Montie Montgomery has more.

Alexandra DeSanctis of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America applaud Alabama legislators for passing a sweeping abortion ban but Alexandra wonders how well it will stand up to legal challenges. They also shake their heads as Beto O’Rourke relaunches his presidential campaign by apologizing for his privilege, calling Stacey Abrams his hero, and vowing to choose a female running mate if he’s the nominee. And they’re underwhelmed as Sen. Elizabeth Warren supposedly takes a principled stand by refusing to take part in a Fox News town hall, calling Fox News “hate-for-profit racket that gives a megaphone to racists and conspiracists.”

Alexandra DeSanctis of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America grab some popcorn as supporters of Sen. Cory Booker blast the media for giving far more attention to Pete Buttigieg, calling the coverage gap the epitome of privilege. They also slam Code Pink for commandeering the Venezuelan embassy in Washington in solidarity with dictator Nicholas Maduro and but get a kick out of Code Pink howling in protest when the water and power are cut off – some of the very same conditionsMaduro is inflicting on the people of Venezuela. And Alexandra highly enjoys the irony as Alyssa Milano and other modern feminists protest state laws banning abortion once a fetal heartbeat is detected by refusing to have sex so they don’t get pregnant.

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America cheer new poll numbers showing Americans overwhelming reject the idea of felons voting from behind bars, an idea promoted by Sen. Bernie Sanders. They also shudder at reports – apparently from Michael Cohen – that Cohen helped Liberty University President Jerry Falwell, Jr. squash the possible release of highly embarrassing photos, and that eventually triggered Falwell’s endorsement of Trump in early 2016. And Jim unleashes a terrific rant in response to the pro-choice CNN guest who says a pregnant woman does not have a human being inside of her.
Abortion Battles Intensify

The abortion debate is intensifying on multiple fronts, as pro-life lawmakers make Georgia the latest state to ban abortion once a fetal heartbeat is detected and a Pennsylvania lawmaker comes under fire for harassing pro-life activists outside a Planned Parenthood clinic in Philadelphia.
On Tuesday, Georgia became the latest in a string of states to outlaw abortion once the baby’s heartbeat can be detected. Americans United for Life Chief Engagement Officer Tom Shakely says these debates highlight those who understand the science of pregnancy and those who don’t.
“This Georgia bill illustrates the divide that exists between folks who, on the one hand, increasingly want to deny scientific and medical reality and other folks who want to recognize it,” said Shakely.
Shakely admits that the state laws do not actually change anything in the U.S. – at least not yet. He says the federal abortion law framework established in Roe v. Wade still supersedes state laws, but he’s hopeful that they set a precedent that will be embraced by the courts.
In Pennsylvania, State Rep. Brian Sims is under fire from pro-life groups after livestreaming himself harassing a senior citizen and three teenage girls who were praying outside a Planned Parenthood facility. Sims berated the women for several minutes, told them they ought to be ashamed, and even offered his viewers $100 to identify the pro-life activists so he could lead protests at their homes.
“He didn’t engage any of these folks to understand why they were out there, where they were coming from, whether they may have had abortions themselves, which could have led them to that place of offering alternatives. It’s just an unfortunate case of egregious political ideology trumping a human concern for a neighbor,” said Shakely.
Listen to the full podcast as Shakely responds to Sims and explains why demonstrating outside of abortion clinics is laudable.

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America applaud the USA Today editorial writers for pointing out Medicare for All would rip more than 100 million Americans away from coverage they like and run up a cost that even government economists can’t figure out. They also slam Cory Booker for demanding a ban on “assault weapons” and refusing to say whether he would jail gun owners who refuse to give up their weapons. And they unload on Pennsylvania Democratic State Rep. Brian Sims for filming himself harassing people peacefully praying outside a Philadelphia Planned Parenthood abortion clinic and even offering rewards for his followers to identify the people he’s intimidating.
House GOP Tries to Force Vote on Infanticide Ban
Listen to “House GOP Tries to Force Vote on Infanticide Ban” on Spreaker.
House Republicans are now trying to force a vote on legislation requiring medical care for babies who are born following attempted abortions, after Democrats rejected numerous GOP efforts to get a vote on the infanticide ban.
On Tuesday, House Majority Whip Steve Scalise brought a discharge petition to the House floor so members could sign it. If a majority of House members sign on, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will be required to call for a vote.
“Let the members vote to end, frankly, infanticide in America,” said Americans United for Life Chief Legal Officer Steven Aden, who was in the chamber for the signings and at a press conference later in the day.
So far the discharge petition has 190 signatures, meaning Republicans are at least a couple dozen signatures short of a majority. But the petition stays open for the remainder of the current Congress, which runs through the end of 2020. Aden is not giving up and thinks more Democrats will join the effort if they feel the heat from their constituents.
“We’re hopeful, but they need to hear from the American people,” said Aden.
Democrats offer a series of objections to the legislation, the most common being that infanticide is already banned through the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act, which was passed in the early days of the George W. Bush administration.
Aden says that law is good but there’s a major problem with it.
“Unfortunately, that bill was a paper tiger. It simply states that infants that are born alive after an abortion are persons and ought to receive medical attention but there’s no teeth to it,” said Aden.
Listen to the full podcast top hear Aden explain why he believes organizations like Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America are so ardently opposed to saving the lives of babies living outside their mothers.
What’s Behind the Left’s Aggressive Abortion Push?
Listen to “What’s Behind the Left’s Aggressive Abortion Push?” on Spreaker.
Lawmakers in New York and Vermont passed sweeping legislation removing abortion restrictions and are trying to do the same in Illinois, Rhode Island, and New Mexico. Similar efforts failed in Virginia. Even an infanticide ban failed to advance in the U.S. Senate.
But why is this push happening now and do conservatives see a win coming anywhere? We ask Patrina Mosley of the Family Research Council. Listen to the full podcast as Mosley explains the urgency on the left to get this done, what efforts are still underway to ban infanticide on Capitol Hill, and why there is strong evidence Democrats are vastly overreaching on this issue.
