Jeffries Ghosts Pelosi, ‘The Queen of Capitol Gains,’ Lefty Hit Piece Targets Fetterman

May 2, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Jeffries Ghosts Pelosi, ‘The Queen of Capitol Gains,’ Lefty Hit Piece Targets Fetterman” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg for 3 Martini Lunch as they break down the surprising friction between House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a New Jersey Democrat’s eyebrow-raising success in the stock market since arriving in Congress, and a disingenuous left-wing media attack on Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman.

Jim and Greg begin with new details surrounding National Security Adviser Mike Waltz’s departure before thoroughly enjoying the growing divide between Hakeem Jeffries and Nancy Pelosi. Jeffries is reportedly distancing himself and no longer seeking Pelosi’s counsel. This story has many delicious layers, but it clearly highlights a Democratic party that’s still not sure where it’s going.

Next, they dig into the Washington Free Beacon’s investigation of New Jersey Democratic Rep. Mikie Sherrill’s improbable financial gains since joining Congress. Jim emphasizes how these stories deepen public distrust in government, while Greg notes the media’s pattern of downplaying financial controversies involving Democrats, from Whitewater to campaign fundraising scandals.

Finally, they tackle New York magazine’s hit piece on Sen. John Fetterman, which raises questions about his health and personal life. Jim points out that these same outlets once claimed Fetterman was fit to serve shortly after suffering a major stroke and argues that the real reason for the shift is Fetterman’s willingness to buck his party on a tiny number of issues.

Trump’s First 100 Days: The Good, The Bad, & The Crazy

April 25, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Trump’s First 100 Days: The Good, The Bad, & The Crazy” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg for this especial edition of the 3 Martini Lunch as they assess the first 100 days of President Trump’s new administration. What have been the biggest successes? Where has the administration stumbled? And which moments have stood out as the most crazy in these early months?

First, they highlight what they see as Trump’s top achievements so far. Jim praises Trump for dramatically reducing illegal immigration at the southern border, calling it a clear promise kept and evidence that the Biden administration could have done the same. The effort to deport criminal illegals is significant too. Greg agrees the border is the biggest win and also commends Trump for restoring cultural sanity in keeping men out of women’s sports and private changing areas, and for generally slamming the brakes on the cultural madness the Democrats have been pushing.

Next, they explain what they see as the low points of Trump’s first few months. Jim takes aim at the tariffs, the inconsistent messaging on them coming from Trump’s top advisers, and the market volatility that has ensued. Greg wants to know why Trump has signed only five bills into law when the GOP controls both the House and Senate. Why isn’t Congress doing more to move bills along on issues that the American people clearly support.

Finally, they break down the craziest moments of the first 100 days. Jim focuses on the unhinged backlash from Democrats after Chuck Schumer caved on the government funding bill. Greg notes Trump’s takeover of the Kennedy Center and gets creative in thinking about the type of show that would really please Trump.

Jim and Greg’s Political Spring Cleaning: The Policies and Politicians We Want to Throw Out

April 18, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Jim and Greg’s Political Spring Cleaning: The Policies and Politicians We Want to Throw Out” on Spreaker.

Jim and Greg are off for Good Friday but they’ve also been busy lately doing some spring cleaning—but not around the house. Greg is tossing out outdated policies, messages, and organizations, while Jim is ready to send a few politicians packing.

First, Greg targets the type of taxes he finds most infuriating. He’s not a fan of any taxes but there’s one he finds particularly burdensome and fundamentally unfair. Jim, meanwhile, celebrates the quiet departure of a Republican who dominated headlines late last year but is now largely forgotten—and not missed.

Next, Greg shifts his focus to education, identifying a major obstacle to our schools that, if eliminated, would greatly benefit students and restore academic integrity. Jim highlights a once-promising politician who failed to deliver, faced numerous legal issues, and appears headed for a huge political defeat this year.

Finally, Greg turns to the lighter side and takes aim at some of the most irritating TV commercials. While he is a huge fan of free speech, Greg explains why these ads are especially grating and need to go. Jim reflects on a political figure who has already stepped away from the spotlight—but wonders how long before he fades from public view altogether.

Trump’s Marching Orders to Congress, Trump’s IVF Order, Why Young Men Moved Towards Trump

February 19, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Trump’s Marching Orders to Congress, Trump’s IVF Order, Why Young Men Moved Towards Trump” on Spreaker.

Inez Stepman of the Independent Women’s Forum fills in for Jim on this episode of the 3 Martini Lunch podcast. Join Inez and Greg as they discuss Trump’s legislative priorities, his controversial executive order on in vitro fertilization (IVF), and the role COVID played in shifting young men towards Trump in the 2024 elections.

First, Inez and Greg break down Trump’s call for a single reconciliation bill to tackle border policy, energy, defense, and tax cuts. Trump is aligning with the House strategy, while the Senate currently plans to divide the issues into two separate bills. Inez explains how this demonstrates what Trump learned from his  legislative approach eight years ago and why he’s likely to get what he wants in the end.

Next, they discuss Trump’s executive order aimed at making in vitro fertilization more accessible and more affordable. They both agree taxpayers shouldn’t be footing the bill for IVF treatments. Greg says while IVF provides hope to married couples struggling with infertility, it also results in the destruction of human life in many cases. Inez opposes the executive order, warning it could accelerate the troubling rise of “designer babies” and genetic engineering. They also stress that the government should focus on making it easier and more affordable for families looking to adopt children already born.

Finally, they explore polling and analysis from The Atlantic that suggests COVID lockdowns and the erosion of trust in experts have contributed to a significant shift in young men’s political allegiance towards Donald Trump. Inez points out that the COVID era coincided with the peak of the woke movement, and many young men grew frustrated with being blamed for society’s problems.

Trump’s Goals for Gaza, USAID’s Politico Problem, Dems Already Want Impeachment

February 5, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Trump’s Goals for Gaza, USAID’s Politico Problem, Dems Already Want Impeachment” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg for 3 Martini Lunch as they react to President Trump’s suggestion to take over Gaza, USAID’s questionable spending on foreign and domestic media, and the latest call for President Trump’s impeachment from a House Democrat.

First, they dive into Trump’s proposal for the U.S. to take control of Gaza, relocate the people, clean up the area, and transform it into a Mediterranean resort-like destination. Greg argues that it’s a terrible idea as described, but also questions what Trump’s true strategy might be. But Jim offers…a surprisingly positive take on the plan.

Next, they shudder at some of the egregious waste uncovered in the DOGE audit of the U.S. Agency for International Development. Specifically, they examine why millions of our tax dollars ended up in the hands of Politico and other media outlets.

Finally, they address Texas Rep. Al Green’s call for President Trump’s impeachment, making him the first Democrat in Congress to do so in the new Trump presidency. While Green has files articles of impeachment before, Jim and Greg explain why this latest push is nothing more than a political stunt aimed at drawing attention, especially with the GOP controlling both chambers of Congress.

Finally, they roll their eyes as Texas Rep. Al Green becomes the first congressional Democrat to call for President Trump’s impeachment. This is not Green’s first attempt to oust a sitting Republican president, but with the GOP running both chambers of Congress, it’s nothing more than a stunt to attract attention.

GOP Clinches House Majority, Closed Gaetz at DOJ? Casey Wants to Count Ballots from Unregistered Voters

November 14, 2024 by GregC

Listen to “GOP Clinches House Majority, Closed Gaetz at DOJ? Casey Wants to Count Ballots from Unregistered Voters” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they delve into the GOP’s projected control of the House of Representatives, why Matt Gaetz is the wrong choice for Attorney General, and Sen. Bob Casey’s far-fetched push to count ballots from unregistered voters.

First, Jim and Greg discuss the now-confirmed GOP majority in the House of Representatives in the next Congress. All major networks project Republican control, and Rep. Mike Johnson seems to have a clear path to another term as Speaker of the House. Jim highlights how this solid footing is not only promising for the GOP’s legislative plans but also dispels rumors that Johnson is about to face an internal party revolt.

After a positive review of most Trump cabinet picks, Jim and Greg criticize the choice of Matt Gaetz for Attorney General. They agree that reforming the Justice Department and FBI is crucial  but they also contend there are people who would be far better at that job and would not come with the enormous baggage that Gaetz brings with him.

Finally, they call out Sen. Bob Casey, Jr. for his recount efforts in Pennsylvania despite trailing by more than 26,000 votes. Even worse, Casey’s legal team is asking the courts to count ballots cast by unregistered voters. Casey’s refusal to accept reality is an embarrassment and it also erodes the narrative that Democrats are supposedly the guardians of our democracy. Jim and Greg also discuss middle of the night ballot dumps and much more.

Cheatle Resigns, Kamala Uncontested, Dems Ghost Netanyahu

July 23, 2024 by GregC

Listen to “Cheatle Resigns, Kamala Uncontested, Dems Ghost Netanyahu” on Spreaker.

Today, Jim and Greg discuss Kim Cheatle’s resignation as director of U.S. Secret Service, the swift ascendance of Kamala Harris as the Democrats’ nominee, and Biden & Harris can’t be bothered to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on his visit to the U.S.
First, they toast a good martini to Cheatle’s resignation after a disastrous performance before the House Oversight and Accountability Committee. Jim sees some clear parallels between her resignation and President Biden stepping down from his campaign.
Next, they observe how Vice President Harris successfully cleared the field to be the next presidential nominee, securing the endorsement of top Democrats and a majority of DNC delegates. Greg points out the irony in how quickly the party of “defending democracy” was to shut down any chance of a robust primary.
Finally, they talk about Prime Minister Netanyahu’s visit to the United State and how neither Biden nor Harris seem to have any time for him. Jim points out the impropriety of this and says it only adds to questions about who is running the country right now.

Biden’s Pandering Backfires, The Looming TikTok ‘Ban,’ Opposing DEI Attacks Democracy?

April 24, 2024 by GregC

Listen to “Biden’s Pandering Backfires, The Looming TikTok ‘Ban,’ Opposing DEI Attacks Democracy?” on Spreaker.

Hillsdale College Radio General Manager and Radio Free Hillsdale Hour Host Scot Bertram is in for Jim. Today, Scot and Greg serve up at least one good martini, one that has the potential to be very good, and a really crazy one starring Stacey Abrams.

First, they laugh as new Bloomberg poll numbers show President Biden’s blatant pandering to Muslim voters in Michigan by verbally attacking Israel at every opportunity is showing small signs of success in that state but it’s also causing Donald Trump to grow his lead in virtually every other battleground state.

Next, they are cautiously optimistic about recently passed legislation that forces TikTok’s parent company to sell the app or have it banned in the U.S. TikTok is well documented to be Chinese Communist Party spyware that harvests personal and national security data while getting millions of Americans – especially young people – addicted to the content, much of which is very harmful. But they also want to be sure this new law does not end up stifling online speech in any way.

Then, they get a kick out twice-failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams stating that opposition to the implementation of the DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) agenda in schools is an attack on our democracy. They enjoy seeing how the Democrats now see any position contrary to their agenda as a threat to democracy – and the insanity doesn’t stop there.

Lastly, these two beleaguered Chicago Bears fans look ahead to Thursday’s NFL Draft, in which the Bears have the first pick. Scot is optimistic about the team that’s being assembled and Greg is just waiting to see how the Bears will squander this opportunity.

Make the Houthis Terrorists Again, NPR Embraces Leftist Label, Biden’s Latest Lies

April 18, 2024 by GregC

Listen to “Make the Houthis Terrorists Again, NPR Embraces Leftist Label, Biden’s Latest Lies” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they sound off on some good news out of the House of Representatives and some really crazy news about taxpayer-funded media and President Biden’s latest whoppers.
First, they’re glad to see a big bipartisan majority in the House of Representatives vote to declare the Iran-backed Houthis to be a “Foreign Terrorist Organization” again. If the Senate also passes it, Jim and Greg hope Biden will the sign the bill and not stubbornly stick to his decision to reverse President Trump designation of the Houthis as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.
Then, they wince as National Public Radio (NPR) basically forces longtime editor Uri Berliner out after he publicly scolded NPR for engaging in partisan politics by stifling stories like the Hunter Biden laptop and the origins of COVID while reporting Rep. Adam Schiff’s version of the Trump-Russia investigation as the truth. Instead, leaders there are proving most of Berliner’s accusations true and embracing leftist narratives. They also recoil at a TED Talk that new NPR CEO Katherine Maher delivered about how we all have our own truths and that building consensus is more important than pursuing truth.
Finally, they groan as President Biden repeatedly tells the thoroughly disproven story of his uncle allegedly getting by cannibals in New Guinea during World War II. And Biden also claims he told Israel not to go into Haifa – which is an Israeli city. But Jim says the statement is also very  problematic on another level.

Scandal-Free Super Bowl, Rep. Gallagher Calls It Quits, Biden’s Bogus ‘Shrinkflation’ Argument

February 12, 2024 by GregC

Listen to “Scandal-Free Super Bowl, Rep. Gallagher Calls It Quits, Biden’s Bogus ‘Shrinkflation’ Argument” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they share some thoughts on the Super Bowl and dive into two big political stories.
First, they have generally positive reviews of the Super Bowl, other than the fact that the game seemed to last forever. They were pleased there was no officiating controversy that played a huge role in deciding the game like there was last year and we didn’t seem to be inundated with too much woke indoctrination in the ads. Then, they wince as Wisconsin Rep. Mike Gallagher surprisingly announces he will retire from Congress at the end of this year. While clearly disagreeing with Gallagher’s decision to vote against impeaching Homeland Security Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas, they point out Gallagher is usually a very reliable conservative vote and he is doing good work exposing the threat that the Chinese Communist Party poses to the United States.

Finally, they hammer President Biden’s low-energy, mumbling nonsense about how he is fed up with “shrinkflation” and companies charging the same amount for less product. Not only does Biden pretend this isn’t directly related to his inflationary policies but Jim points out that this exposes his own false narrative about the supposed success of “Bidenomics.”
