2022 Martini Awards Part 5: Most Overreported Story, Most Underreported Story, Best Story of 2022

December 29, 2022 by GregC

Listen to “2022 Martini Awards Part 5: Most Overreported Story, Most Underreported Story, Best Story of 2022” on Spreaker.

It’s media day in our year-end Three Martini Lunch awards and Jim and Greg have plenty to say about how things were covered – if they were covered at all.  Specifically, they look at the stories the mainstream media covered far too much, the ones they conveniently ignored because they didn’t fit their narrative, and they highlight what they saw as the best stories of 2022.

More GOP Momentum, Iran’s ‘Imminent’ Threat, Biden’s Tired Act

November 2, 2022 by GregC

Listen to “More GOP Momentum, Iran’s ‘Imminent’ Threat, Biden’s Tired Act” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg discuss how the 3 Martini Lunch factored into a major debate Tuesday night! Then the turn to the martinis as they welcome polling evidence that even more House races are tilting towards the Republicans and nearly all generic polls show a GOP edge…but you still need to vote! They also groan as Saudi intelligence suggests Iran is planning an “imminent” attack but also note the likely return of Benjamin Netanyahu to in Israel. And President Biden plans to discuss why voting for his party is needed to save democracy after his party spent millions trying to get Republicans nominated who they considered the most extreme.

Great GOP Messaging, OPEC Rolls Biden, DeSantis Surging

October 5, 2022 by GregC

Listen to “Great GOP Messaging, OPEC Rolls Biden, DeSantis Surging” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they serve up two good martinis and one really bad one. First, they spotlight impressive Virginia GOP congressional candidate Hung Cao, his compelling life story and strong answers to divisive questions. They also grumble as OPEC announces production cuts of two billion barrels per day – the exact opposite of what President Biden asked it to do. And they welcome a new poll showing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis up double figures in his re-election bid. They also interpret the media’s disinterest in the hurricane aftermath as proof that DeSantis and his administration have put together a strong response to the devastating storm.

Feminists Quiet on Iran, Diplomat for Plants & Animals, From Latinx to Latine

September 30, 2022 by GregC

Listen to “Feminists Quiet on Iran, Diplomat for Plants & Animals, From Latinx to Latine” on Spreaker.

Rob Long is in for Jim, Join Rob and Greg as they discuss why American feminists don’t have much to say about women in Iran risking their lives for freedom – and when they do it gets really weird. They also groan as President Biden names the wife of his chief of staff as a “diplomat for plants and animals.” Lastly, they get a kick out of lefties finally realizing that “Latinx” is only hurting their efforts to win back Latino voters – only to come up with an equally absurd name and declare war on Spanish language articles and pronouns.

Abraham Accords Still Strong, Russia’s Ominous Moves, Air Force Speech Police

September 23, 2022 by GregC

Listen to “Abraham Accords Still Strong, Russia’s Ominous Moves, Air Force Speech Police” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they marvel at Israel selling an air defense system to the UAE, demonstrating the success of the Abraham Accords and best chance at stability in the Middle East. They also cringe as Russian soldiers are going house to house in eastern Ukrainian provinces, forcing them to vote in favor of leaving Ukraine and joining Russia.  And that’s on top of Vladimir Putin threatening more directly than ever that he might use nukes. Finally, they call out the “gender-inclusive” insanity at the Air Force Academy, where cadets are encouraged to stop using words like mom, dad, boyfriend, and girlfriend.

Russians in Retreat, Kamala’s Border BS, Left’s Nutty 9/11 Comparison

September 12, 2022 by GregC

Listen to “Russians in Retreat, Kamala’s Border BS, Left’s Nutty 9/11 Comparison” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they serve up one good martini and two crazy ones. After sharing their reflections on 21 years since the 9/11 attacks, they welcome the news that the Ukrainian counteroffensive is shoving Russian forces way back – in some cases all the way back to Russia. But Jim warns of a dark possibility after this good news. They also unload on Vice President Kamala Harris telling Chuck Todd on “Meet the Press” that the border is secure because the administration wants it to be secure – and that any problems are due to the Trump administration. Finally, they slam the door on the ludicrous argument of Democrats and other lefties that the January 6th riots were comparable to the 9/11 attacks or even worse.

September 5, 2022 by GregC

Listen to “Labor Day Special: More Answers for Your Questions” on Spreaker.

Happy Labor Day! As we observe the unofficial end of summer, Jim and I present a brand new episode of us answering your questions. Today, we discuss which candidates are likely to overperform or underperform their states’ natural partisan bent in the year’s midterm elections…and we have names from both parties in both categories. We also fess up and admit some things we were wrong about in our political analysis over the years. And we’re asked what we think of college football and all of the big changes happening to the sport as we kick off a new season. Enjoy the discussion, and join us again for our usual format on Tuesday.

Iran Deal Delusion, California’s Car Mandates, Biden’s Student Loan Lies

August 25, 2022 by GregC

Listen to “Iran Deal Delusion, California’s Car Mandates, Biden’s Student Loan Lies” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they serve up two bad martinis and a crazy one. First, they groan as the Biden administration foolishly pursues a new Iran nuclear deal that in several ways would be even worse than the original. They also fume as California lays out plans to ban the sale of gasoline-powered cars by 2035, explain how electric vehicles are a thoroughly unacceptable option for millions of Americans, and how government has no business forcing options on us that we don’t want. And they have a LOT to say about the Biden administration’s rollout of its plan to force Americans who didn’t take out student loans or have paid them off to cover those costs for others.

August 9, 2022 by GregC

Listen to “One Year Since the Afghanistan Debacle” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they continue their week of special podcasts. Today, they take a grim look back at August 2021 and the disgraceful, chaotic, and deadly U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. They walk through the Biden administration’s missteps before, during, and after the Taliban took control of Kabul. They also recognize the heroism of U.S. veterans who refused to leave their Afghan friends to the brutality of the Taliban and worked feverishly to get them out of the country. And they examine the ways that America’s perceived weakness around the world has impacted events throughout the world.
