Zeldin’s EPA Overhaul, Russia Rejects Ceasefire, Buttigieg Eyes White House Over Senate

March 13, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Zeldin’s EPA Overhaul, Russia Rejects Ceasefire, Buttigieg Eyes White House Over Senate” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg for 3 Martini Lunch as they discuss badly needed regulatory relief coming soon from the EPA, Russia rejecting a ceasefire with Ukraine while demanding more concessions, and Pete Buttigieg’s decision to skip a U.S. Senate run to focus on a 2028 presidential bid.

First, after clarifying a point from Wednesday’s podcast, they cheer EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin for targeting several of the most burdensome environmental regulations. Zeldin maintains that these rollbacks will cut costs and ease restrictions on businesses and families without compromising environmental standards.

Next, they analyze Russia’s refusal to agree to a ceasefire with Ukraine and insisting on more concessions before any serious negotiations. Jim argues that Vladimir Putin wouldn’t honor any deal he signs, while Greg asks how President Trump could pressure Russia into reconsidering its position.

Finally, they react to reports that former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg won’t run for U.S. Senate in Michigan and is instead eyeing a 2028 White House bid. They highlight his lack of achievements and Jim explains why he thinks the Democrats need a very different type of candidate in the next campaign.

The Israel-Hamas Ceasefire, Karine Jean-Pierre’s Pettiness, Biden’s Pathetic Farewell

January 16, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “The Israel-Hamas Ceasefire, Karine Jean-Pierre’s Pettiness, Biden’s Pathetic Farewell” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg on 3 Martini Lunch as they discuss the fragile Middle East ceasefire that could bring the hostages home, the petty response from Karine Jean-Pierre to President Trump’s role in the deal, and President Biden’s underwhelming farewell speech.

First, they express cautious optimism over the ceasefire deal, which they hope will bring home many of the remaining Israeli and American hostages. However, Jim remains realistic about the ongoing dangers, emphasizing that as long as hostilities are paused, Hamas will continue to manipulate the situation to their advantage.

Next, they highlight State Department Press Secretary Matthew Miller thanking the incoming Trump administration for its help in securing the ceasefire. When White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked about Miller’s comments, she downplayed his remarks and tried to redirect the credit solely to President Biden, calling Miller a “random person” in the process.

Finally, they groan over President Biden’s self-indulgent farewell speech that vastly overhyped his accomplishments, tried to settle some scores, and took aim at billionaire “oligarchs,” the same people he had no problems with until a couple of them stopped supporting him.

Biden’s Middle East Bungling, Why Kamala Wants Another Debate, Walz Won’t Mind His Business

September 23, 2024 by GregC

Listen to “Biden’s Middle East Bungling, Why Kamala Wants Another Debate, Walz Won’t Mind His Business” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they take on three big martinis, as they discuss the escalating war between Israel and Hezbollah and how Biden botched the Israel-Hamas talks, why Kamala Harris is so eager to have another debate with Donald Trump, how Tim Walz wants to be in your face about politics, and much more.

First, they document the latest developments in the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah and remind the media Hezbollah was firing a lot of rockets into Israel long before the pager explosions last week. They also highlight a Wall Street Journal story saying there probably won’t be an Israel-Hamas ceasefire during Biden’s presidency and that Biden’s team is finally coming to realize what we knew all along – Hamas doesn’t want a deal.

Next, they react to Vice President Harris accepting an invitation to a CNN presidential debate on October 23. So far, Trump is declining the offer. But after two months of campaign fluff and avoiding press conferences and most interviews, why is Harris so intent on another debate?

Meanwhile, Greg reported back in 2020 that the State of Michigan sent an absentee voter application to his childhood address, meaning he was (and maybe still is) on Michigan’s voter rolls more than 20 years after moving out of the state. Now there’s another story of Michigan voter roll insanity that’s even worse.

Finally, they shake their heads as Minnesota Gov. Tim “Mind Your Own Damn Business” Walz now thinks you need to confront people in the grocery store about this election and tells those who just want to stay away from politics that they don’t have that option.

Real World Consequences for Columbia, The Bogus Hamas Ceasefire, Dems & Race

May 7, 2024 by GregC

Listen to “Real World Consequences for Columbia, The Bogus Hamas Ceasefire, Dems & Race” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg, who actually have a good martini today, along with an absurdly bad one, and some crazy double standards for Democrats.

First, they welcome thirteen federal judges warning Columbia University that they will no longer accept the school’s students as law clerks after the trespassing protests that commandeered a building and university leaders allowed it all to happen. They do want to make sure that students who didn’t break the law don’t get punished for the crimes of others, but it is a warning to Columbia that if it wants to be taken seriously, the worst elements on campus cannot be calling the shots.

Next, they roll their eyes as Hamas agrees to a Middle East ceasefire that had never been on the table. Jim labels the plan an unacceptable counterproposal and explains why. He also blasts much of the mainstream media for proclaiming that Hamas had agreed to the deal and putting the pressure on Israel to consent to it.

Finally, they note racial rhetoric from two Democrats that got some pushback but would have likely meant the end of any Republican’s political career. The latest comes from New York Gov. Kathy Hochul who claimed that kids on the Bronx don’t even know the word “computer.” They also note Maryland Rep. David Trone, who is also running for U.S. Senate, using a racial slur during a committee hearing back in March. Trone says he uttered the wrong word, and it’s likely that he did, but we all know the political volcano that would have ensued if a GOP lawmaker had said it.

Arizona & Abortion, Inflation Still High, Biden’s Demands for Israel, Jackson-Lee’s Iffy Astronomy

April 10, 2024 by GregC

Listen to “Arizona & Abortion, Inflation Still High, Biden’s Demands for Israel, Jackson-Lee’s Iffy Astronomy” on Spreaker.

It’s four martinis for the price of three today and none of them are good.

Join Jim and Greg as they start a busy day with the Arizona Supreme Court upholding an 1864 law limiting abortions only to medical emergencies for the mother. “Life of the mother” used to be a pretty standard position on abortion for Republicans, but the hypocritical reaction from most GOP figures yesterday was quite telling. They’d much prefer the talking point than the actual policy.

They also groan as the monthly inflation numbers once again come in higher than expected. Prices remain stubbornly high – and often keep rising – regardless of what the president or his allies tell you.

Plus, Biden suggests Israel should announce it will stop fighting Hamas for 6-8 weeks to allow significant humanitarian relief into Gaza. He made no mention of requiring the release of hostages in response. Meanwhile, Hamas has already rejected a cease-fire but Biden can’t seem to condemn that publicly.

Finally, Texas Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee offers an astronomy lesson for the ages at an event celebrating the solar eclipse.

NATO Allies Reject Troops in Ukraine, Border Crisis & A Small Town, Biden vs. Reality on Ceasefire

February 28, 2024 by GregC

Listen to “NATO Allies Reject Troops in Ukraine, Border Crisis & A Small Town, Biden vs. Reality on Ceasefire” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg for three big new martinis!

First, they slam French President Emmanuel Macron for publicly refusing to rule out sending troops to Ukraine. But they were glad to see the U.S., Great Britain, and Germany immediately shoot down the notion that such a move was on the table..

Then, they dig into a Washington Free Beacon story about how the border crisis is overwhelming a small, fairly progressive community in Whitewater, Wisconsin. The city is scrambling for money after services for migrants put it in a $400,000 budget bind. Meanwhile, drug activity and STD’s are on the rise. And this is happening in plenty of other communities in this country.

Finally, they scratch their heads as President Biden told reporters that he thinks an Israel-Hamas ceasefire will be in place this weekend. Yet the Israelis, Hamas, and Qatar all publicly say there hasn’t been much progress at all on any of the major issues that need to be addressed before a pause in fighting can happen,

NYT’s Latest Leftward Lurch, The Gullible White House Interns, Boston’s ‘Electeds of Color’ Party

December 15, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “NYT’s Latest Leftward Lurch, The Gullible White House Interns, Boston’s ‘Electeds of Color’ Party” on Spreaker.

Jim and Greg finish off the week with three important martinis, right after they give the very predictable update of that Hamas official from yesterday saying his comments were “taken out of context” and that he does not support the recognition of Israel.

Then they give credit to former New York Times Editorial Page Editor James Bennet for savaging the paper by evolving from taking sides in debates to shutting down opposing viewpoints and serving only as an echo chamber for progressives about a world that doesn’t really exist. Bennet was ousted in 2020 after running an op-ed from Sen. Tom Cotton that argued for bringing in troops to quell the riots in American cities.  That decision led to a newsroom revolt at the Times.

They also scratch their heads over reports that the White House intern letter demanding a ceasefire in the Middle East was started in a group chat by someone none of the interns knew. Jim explains why that story raises multiple serious concerns.

Finally, they shake their heads at the obvious double standard as Boston officials take heat getting caught holding an “Electeds of Color” holiday party, to which white city council members were not supposed to be invited but accidentally were.

College Presidents’ Rank Hypocrisy, FBI Ignores Need for Warrants, White House Interns Demand Ceasefire

December 6, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “College Presidents’ Rank Hypocrisy, FBI Ignores Need for Warrants, White House Interns Demand Ceasefire” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they react to the presidents of Harvard, MIT, and Penn having a very hard time deciding whether large groups of students calling for genocide in Israel constitute harassing speech. It’s especially hypocritical when considering how quick these administrators are to champion BLM, feminists, and the LGBT activists.

They also cheer Utah Sen. Mike Lee for blasting FBI Director Christopher Wray for the bureau’s failure to to pursue warrants in seeking information on American citizens in all 103 cases in which it was required.

Finally, they roll their eyes as White House interns go public with a letter to President Biden demanding a ceasefire in the Middle East.

And they offer real time reaction to the news that former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy will resign from Congress later this month.

Remembering Henry Kissinger, Hamas Kills More Israeli Civilians, Trump Supported by BLM?

November 30, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Remembering Henry Kissinger, Hamas Kills More Israeli Civilians, Trump Supported by BLM?” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they remember the long and complicated legacy of former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, who advised presidents for 60 years before his death Wednesday at the age of 100. They highlight Kissinger’s record and why he is deeply respected by some deeply reviled by others.

They also hammer Hamas for the deadly shootings of Israeli civilians in Jerusalem, including a pregnant teacher, and what this means for the temporary ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.

Finally, they scratch their heads after former President Trump claims he has the support of a former Black LIves Matter official and from the organization itself. While the veracity of the BLM support is drawing scrutiny, why would Trump want it in the first place?

Fetterman’s Curious Encounter, FBI’s Terrorism Warning, Politico Dissects DeSantis’ Boots

October 31, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Fetterman’s Curious Encounter, FBI’s Terrorism Warning, Politico Dissects DeSantis’ Boots” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they react to an odd encounter Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman had with one of his voters – a voter who was shoved outside by a staffer after demanding an answer about a Middle East ceasefire.

They also wince as FBI Director Christopher Wray warns of Hamas-inspired terrorist attacks against Americans – similar to the ISIS-inspired attacks from several years ago. And Jim breaks down how anti-Semites convince themselves that the demonization of Jews justifies any horrible deed in their minds.

Finally, they hammer Politico for running a ridiculous story investigating whether Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis likely places lifts into his boots to appear slightly taller. And Jim explains how this type of “journalism” has made our country and our politics dumber.
