After a quick discussion about the start of confirmation hearings for Trump cabinet nominees, Jim and Greg praise Special Counsel Robert Weiss for his strong denunciation of President Biden’s justification for pardoning Hunter Biden. Weiss rejects Biden’s claim that Hunter was unfairly targeted due to his family ties, pointing to the fact that eight judges weighed in on the process. Weiss also says Biden was wrong to “malign the public servants at the Department of Justice.”

Next, they highlight the snub by Harris and Doug Emhoff, who refused to invite Vice President-Elect JD Vance and his wife, Usha, to tour the vice president’s residence at the U.S. Naval Observatory. Additionally, Jim questions Harris’s absence during the wildfire crisis in California – hardly the approach of someone allegedly considering a run for governor.

Finally, they sigh as President Biden blatantly lies again – this time about the border. Biden alleges that illegal border crossings “came way down” as soon as he entered the White House. He also says Republicans killed the legislation that would have provided more “secret service” agents at the border.

Despite emerging warnings about wildfire dangers, Bass chose to travel to Ghana and stayed there, even after the situation escalated. Her lack of candor and shaky public appearances since returning have also been painful to watch.

Next, they comment on Jimmy Carter’s funeral – both what was said in the early parts of the service and the fascinating interactions – or lack of interactions – among current and former presidents and vice presidents and their spouses. The Biden-Harris, Trump-Pence, and Trump-Obama exchanges were of particular note.

Finally, Jim and Greg react to President Biden’s stunning claim in a USA Today interview, where he asserted that he would have defeated Donald Trump if he had stayed in the 2024 race. Even CNN dismissed his comments as “flat-out bonkers.” Jim points out how recent events and Biden’s actions over the last four years make it clear that he is not equipped to lead the country.

Jim and Greg close out 2024 with the finale of this year’s 3 Martini Lunch Awards. Today, they give out their prestigious choices for Person of the Year, Loser of the Year, and Turncoat of the Year.

On Person of the Year, they both choose Donald Trump. Jim says the choice is so obvious that he spends his time focusing on the astounding year that his runner-up (and a close Trump ally) had in 2024. Meanwhile, Greg chronicles the staggering comeback Trump has achieved over the past year and really the past four years.

For Loser of the Year, Jim chooses the man whose stock plummeted the most in the past 12 months and he says there is a runaway winner. Meanwhile, Greg picks a group of people whose awkward efforts to engineer the outcome of the 2024 campaign imploded in spectacular fashion.

For Turncoat of the Year, Jim chooses a figure who used to align with the left and not only flipped to supporting the Trump-Vance ticket but embodies a demographic that supported Trump in huge numbers this year. Greg offers a whole list of conservatives who actually endorsed and even campaigned for Kamala Harris. But he has another choice that may be our favorite turncoat ever.

It’s media day in our year-end Three Martini Lunch awards and Jim and Greg have plenty to say about how things were covered – if they were covered at all. Specifically, they look at the stories the mainstream media covered far too much, the ones they conveniently ignored because they didn’t fit their narrative, and they highlight what they saw as the best stories of 2024.

First, they dig into the most overreported stories of the year, with Jim choosing a massive, relentless political snow job from the mainstream media. Greg agrees with Jim but also notes how the media fawned over a piece of legislation which was little more than an attempt to change the narrative about Biden’s legacy. Oh, and there was one overreported story that Jim and Greg were guilty of as well. But it was also a lot of fun!

Then it’s on to the stories the media didn’t cover much or didn’t want to cover. Jim points to media apathy concerning stories about a prominent Democrat and how the media would have had huge coverage of them if it were a Republican. Greg picks a heinous act committed by one of our enemies that the media buried as quickly as possible.

Finally, they reveal their selections for best stories of the year. Jim goes with a series of encouraging events over the past several weeks. Greg focuses on the media itself and how this year and how the media should have learned a big lesson. But are they paying attention?

Happy Thanksgiving! We are very thankful for you, our listeners, and for the chance to spend Thanksgiving with our families. Today, we look back at how Jim and Greg sized up Trump’s win and Kamala’s loss three weeks ago.

First, they examine Donald Trump’s stunning political comeback and why Americans chose to return him to the White House with a far more convincing victory than he had eight years ago. And while volumes will be written about this, Jim and Greg suggest Trump simply talked about what voters cared about most and in a way that made them trust him more to tackle the big problems.

Then, they go through a litany of issues that plagued the Harris campaign, from the way Dems shoved Joe Biden aside and nominated Harris without a primary to Kamala’s flip-flopping and inability to answer questions to her very bad choice of Tim Walz as her running mate.

Lastly, they consider who else comes out of this election season as big winners or losers. They aim a lot of their criticism at the shameless partisanship of the mainstream media, and the election results prove people no longer buy into their hysterical coverage. They also call out the elite Democrats like Barack Obama who orchestrated the ouster of Biden and spent the final weeks scolding people for not liking Harris enough. As for the winners, Greg points out another billionaire who had a very good Tuesday night and Jim gives credit to the man who might have reversed the momentum in favor of the Trump campaign.
