Trump Wants Stronger Navy, Newsom Shifts on Women’s Sports, Maxine Waters Accuses Musk

March 6, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Trump Wants Stronger Navy, Newsom Shifts on Women’s Sports, Maxine Waters Accuses Musk” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg for the 3 Martini Lunch as they applaud President Trump’s push for a stronger Navy, question Gavin Newsom’s sudden shift on a major cultural issue, and react to Rep. Maxine Waters’ wild accusations against Elon Musk.

First, they welcome Trump’s renewed focus on expanding the Navy with more warships and submarines to strengthen deterrence and project U.S. power globally. With America’s naval capabilities lagging, Jim notes that allied cooperation will be crucial to rebuilding dominance on the seas.

Next, they analyze why California Gov. Gavin Newsom is now admitting that allowing males in girls’ sports is unfair. Is this a genuine policy shift, or just political posturing towards a likely presidential bid? Jim wonders whether the Democrats are finally ready to drop this losing issue and whether they will try to make the public forget they were ever in favor of allowing men to compete against women.

Finally, they react as Rep. Maxine Waters claims Elon Musk somehow manipulated the 2024 election and suggests he should be deported. Jim dismantles her conspiracy theories and highlights the irony of targeting a legal immigrant while ignoring other border issues.

Dems Fail Female Athletes Again, Trump’s Ukraine Stumbles, Cuomo Launches Comeback

March 4, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Dems Fail Female Athletes Again, Trump’s Ukraine Stumbles, Cuomo Launches Comeback” on Spreaker.

Former Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney and National Review Contributing Editor Andy McCarthy joins Greg for today’s 3 Martini Lunch. They break down Senate Democrats blocking a ban on males in women’s sports, Andy’s argument that Trump is most to blame for the Oval Office confrontation with Zelensky, and Andrew Cuomo’s political comeback as he runs for mayor of New York City.

First, they highlight how every Senate Democrat voted against legislation barring men from competing in women’s sports, preventing the bill from advancing. They explain why Democrats refuse to change course, even as they keep handing Republicans a potent campaign issue.

Next, Andy asserts that the biggest problem in Friday’s heated Oval Office exchange was Trump himself—allowing the photo-op to drag on, failing to grasp the Russian threat, and positioning himself as neutral between Russia and Ukraine. He also argues against the type of war resolution Trump appears to support.

Finally, they react as disgraced former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo officially launches his mayoral bid. While Cuomo correctly identifies many of New York City’s biggest issues, Andy reminds listeners that Cuomo’s own policies are largely responsible for the city’s decline.

Assessing The Start of Trump’s Second Term: Economy, Foreign Policy, and Culture

February 28, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Assessing The Start of Trump’s Second Term: Economy, Foreign Policy, and Culture” on Spreaker.

Before heading out on his trip, Jim and Greg recorded a special episode analyzing the Trump administration’s early weeks, covering key issues from the economy to foreign policy and cultural battles.

First, they break down the economy. Jim highlights Trump’s positive moves on taxes and deregulation but warns that tariffs, particularly against Canada and Mexico, could backfire. Greg focuses on DOGE’s efforts to track government spending and the Democrats’ unhinged reaction to the audit. But will it lead to real fiscal responsibility? He’s skeptical.

Next, they assess foreign affairs. Jim notes that Iran and its proxies have curbed their aggression under Trump, and decisive action is being taken against terrorists. However, he criticizes Trump’s habit of publicly chastising U.S. allies. Greg argues that Trump’s unpredictability is a strength but warns he must be ready for the consequences of issuing ultimatums.

Finally, they tackle cultural issues. Jim praises Trump for rooting out DEI from the federal government but cautions that some newfound conservative allies—like those opposing men in women’s sports—won’t align on other issues. Greg agrees Trump has handled the major cultural fights well but stresses that he must stay focused on core voter concerns: inflation and immigration.

Oh, and if you hear Jim and Greg joking about a calamity prompting this episode, don’t worry—they’re both fine! Jim is set to return for regular episodes early next week.

Trump Protects Women’s Sports, Bondi Blocks Sanctuary Funding, State Dem Stunts Backfire

February 6, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Trump Protects Women’s Sports, Bondi Blocks Sanctuary Funding, State Dem Stunts Backfire” on Spreaker.

Jim and Greg serve up all good martinis on 3 Martini Lunch as they break down President Trump’s executive order banning men from women’s sports, Attorney General Pam Bondi cutting off funding for sanctuary cities, and Democrats’ electoral shenanigans backfiring in multiple states.
First, they cheer Trump for signing an executive order to keep men out of women’s sports, regardless of how those men “identify.” They highlight America’s overwhelming support for the move despite years of media narratives suggesting otherwise. They also note that even left-wing figures like tennis legend Martina Navratilova admit Democrats just handed Trump a major campaign weapon for 2024.

Next, they applaud U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi for cutting off Justice Department funding to self-proclaimed sanctuary cities. Jim compares this to the transgender sports debate, emphasizing that the left ignores just how strongly Americans want criminal illegals out of the country and illegal immigration to stop.

Finally, they take satisfaction in Democrats’ political stunts likely failing in Minnesota and New York. In Minnesota, Democrats stalled state house business because Republicans temporarily hold a one-seat majority, but after weeks of dysfunction, a power-sharing agreement is finally taking shape. Meanwhile, New York Democrats appear to be retreating from an effort to delay a special election to replace GOP Rep. Elise Stefanik, which would have prolonged the razor-thin Republican majority in the U.S. House

Trump Inaugurated, More Disgraceful Biden Pardons, Huge Public Support for Trump on Key Issues

January 20, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Trump Inaugurated, More Disgraceful Biden Pardons, Public Backs Trump Big on Key Issues” on Spreaker.

Undisputed King of Stuff and Sink the Rising Sun author Jon Gabriel is in for Jim on 3 Martini Lunch. Jon and Greg reflect on the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States. They also discuss Joe Biden’s final pre-emptive pardons for political allies and family members, as well as new polling data showing overwhelming American support for Trump’s stance on deportations and trans issues.

First, they welcome Donald Trump’s inauguration and celebrate the end of Joe Biden’s presidency. They express their excitement about the immediate steps taken by President Trump to address key issues, including border security, deportations, energy independence, and rolling back the green agenda, and DEI policies.

Next, they discuss Joe Biden’s predictable but revolting actions in issuing pardons to five more family members plus Dr. Anthony Fauci, Gen. Mark Milley, and all members and staff of the January 6th committee in Congress. Jon and Greg highlight the hypocrisy of Biden’s 2020 vow not to use pardons for family members or to try to change federal policy through social media. They reflect on how these pardons further reveal Biden’s weak character and legacy as a failed president.

The episode concludes with a look at the latest New York Times Ipsos poll, which shows a massive shift in public opinion. Americans overwhelmingly support deporting criminal illegal immigrants and oppose the idea of males competing in female sports or giving puberty blockers to minors. Jon and Greg discuss how this cultural shift signals a broader change in American values over the past few months.

Finally, they look at the latest New York Times/Ipsos poll, which shows a massive shift in public opinion. Americans overwhelmingly support deporting criminal illegal immigrants and a strong majority wants mass deportations of illegals. By huge numbers, Americans also oppose the idea of males competing in female sports or giving puberty blockers to minors.

Three Martinis with Michele Tafoya: Her Life in Sports, Politics in Sports, Trans Athletes, Gov. Walz

October 23, 2024 by GregC

Listen to “Three Martinis with Michele Tafoya: Her Life in Sports, Politics in Sports, Trans Athletes, Gov. Walz” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they welcome longtime, Emmy-winning sports reporter Michele Tafoya. Best known for her work as a sideline reporter on Monday Night Football and Sunday Night Football, Tafoya is now a political commentator and host of the Michele Tafoya Podcast. In this episode, they dive into her most memorable sports moments, her views on the intersection of politics and sports, the controversy surrounding transgender athletes, her experience living in Minnesota under Gov. Tim Walz and more.

First, the conversation kicks off with Michele Tafoya’s rise in sports journalism. From her major career breakthroughs to the challenges of interviewing uncooperative coaches and players, Tafoya shares insights from her time as a sports reporter. She recounts some of her favorite on-field moments, the sports personalities who were easy and tough to work with, and a hilarious story from an NCAA tournament game she was covering in the 1990s.

Next, they focus on politics, including how Tafoya evolved from a left-leaning graduate of Cal Berkeley to a conservative. She also touches on the impact of politics getting injected into sports coverage and how some members of the sports media see themselves as political and cultural activists.

Finally, Tafoya speaks out against the participation of biological men in women’s sports. She shares her thoughts on how this is fundamentally unfair and is affecting female athletes and the integrity of women’s sports. In addition, Tafoya opens up about living under the leadership of Gov. Tim Walz in Minnesota and her perspective on the political expectation that she should support Kamala Harris simply because she is a woman.

Public Rejecting EV’s, Demise of the Sports Section, California & Child Trafficking

July 12, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Public Rejecting EV’s, Demise of the Sports Section, California & Child Trafficking” on Spreaker.

Hillsdale College Radio General Manager and Radio Free Hillsdale Hour Host Scot Bertram is in for Jim today. After a quick discussion of ethics concerns over the Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s staff working to push her book sales, they applaud the independence of the American consumer for buying the vehicles that work best for them – and that means not many of them are buying electric vehicles for a lot of good reasons. They also shake their heads as the New York Times kills is printed sports section altogether and the Los Angeles Times will not longer have game stories, box scores, or standings – you know, the sports content that actually matters. Finally, they recoil as Democrats in California reject legislation to require stiffer penalties for trafficking children. The left is also trying to reduce interest in the anti-trafficking film “Sound of Freedom.” But why?

Seeking Sanity in Sports, Dems Going Soft on Venezuela, A Hurd of GOP Hopefuls

June 22, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Seeking Sanity in Sports, Dems Going Soft on Venezuela, A Hurd of GOP Hopefuls” on Spreaker.

Ricochet.com Editor-in-Chief Jon Gabriel is in for Jim today. Join Jon and Greg as they break down Senate hearings on whether biological men who identify as women should be permitted to participate in women’s sports – and the absurd notion from the left that there really is no difference between them when it comes to athletics. They also roll their eyes as a group of House Democrats asks the Biden administration to ease sanctions on Venezuela in order to help the beleaguered Venezuelan people, as if the people would see an ounce of benefit compared to the corrupt communists running the country. Finally, they groan as former Texas Rep. Will Hurd joins a very crowded Republican presidential field with no chance to win but with a very good chance of accomplishing the one thing he doesn’t want to happen.
