Sotomayor & the 2nd Amendment, Sen. Bennet Bails on Biden, Goodbye Gaza Pier

July 10, 2024 by GregC

Listen to “Sotomayor & the 2nd Amendment, Sen. Bennet Bails on Biden, Goodbye Gaza Pier” on Spreaker.

Today, Jim and Greg discuss the implications of U.S. Marshals protecting Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor shooting a a would-be carjacker, the latest Democrat voices to turn on President Biden, and the curtain call of the Gaza pier disaster.

First, they react to the news that the U.S. Marshals protecting Justice Sotomayor shot a man that pulled a gun on them and was likely attempting a carjacking. Jim wishes he could ask Justice Sotomayor if this incident changes her mind on the importance of second amendment rights.

Next, they dissect Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet’s public statements on CNN that Biden cannot win the upcoming election, as well as George Clooney’s report that Biden was just as fragile behind closed doors at a recent Hollywood fundraiser as he was on the debate stage. Jim is very concerned about what this means for the next six months that Biden is in office, unless the 25th Amendment is invoked.

Finally, they roll their eyes as the ridiculous Gaza pier saga finally comes to an end. Reports suggest it will likely soon be closed down because of how badly beaten up it has been by the weather. Jim points out that this project to send aid to Gaza was a failure in every sense.

Sen. Kennedy vs. Gun Grabbing Judge, Afghan Debacle Worse Than Thought, Defending Cannibalism?

March 21, 2024 by GregC

Listen to “Sen. Kennedy vs. Gun Grabbing Judge, Afghan Debacle Worse Than Thought, Defending Cannibalism?” on Spreaker.

Undisputed King of Stuff, columnist, and longtime Ricochet Editor-in-Chief Jon Gabriel is in for Jim today. Today, Jon and Greg break down one thoroughly enjoyable congressional hearing, an utterly infuriating one, and perhaps the craziest martini of all time.

But before the martinis, they provide a brief update on Jim’s latest reporting, including the closest he’s been to intense Russian bombings in Ukraine. Thankfully, Jim is fine, but please keep praying for his safety and for the Ukrainian people.

In today’s martinis, Jon and Greg appreciate Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy’s master class in exposing President Biden’s radical judicial nominees. This week he flummoxed Judge Nancy Maldonado by highlighting her call for an assault weapons ban in a previous job and making her prove she has no idea what she means by “assault weapons.”

Next, they head to a House hearing in which former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Mark Milley admits the Taliban has butchered a good number of our Afghan allies and that he and others in the Biden administration never knew how many Americans were in Afghanistan at the time of the withdrawal debacle so they had no idea how many were still there when the military left.

They also highlight testimony from former CentCom Commander Gen. Kenneth McKenzie, who admitted, “When I received the order to withdraw the US military, I was not ordered to plan to get U.S. citizens out, our allies out, or evacuate our embassy.”

Finally, just one week after “right-wing influencers” were accused of falsely stating some Haitian gangs engaged in cannibalism (even though they were right), the push is now on to defend the hideous practice. NewScientist.com laments that in contrast to zombie movies and characters like Hannibal Lecter, “positive stories of cannibals are few and far between.” They also claim our primitive ancestors ate their dead as a sign of respect.

2023 Martini Awards Part 4: Best Idea, Worst Idea, Boldest Tactic

December 27, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “2023 Martini Awards Part 4: Best Idea, Worst Idea, Boldest Tactic” on Spreaker.

More year-end awards today! Jim and Greg embark on the second half of their six-episode series of the 3 Three Martini Lunch Awards. Today, they offer up their selections for the Best Political Idea, Worst Political Idea, and Boldest Political Tactics for the year.

They start with the best ideas of the year. Jim chooses an event that actually happened late last year but the true impact of it has been felt far and wide in 2023. Meanwhile, Greg’s award goes to a critical policy movement that made significant progress this year.

Then it’s time for the worst political ideas of the year, with both Jim and Greg finding so many terrible ideas that they both have multiple winners with no overlapping. Jim focuses on three terrible and simply wrong ideas pursued by the Biden administration on the international stage. Whereas, Greg highlights United Nations advocacy of a truly terrible idea that should horrify every parent. And he cites a governor’s effort to blatantly defy the Constitution.

Finally, they’re on to boldest political tactics for 2023, with neither of them agreeing with the tactics they chose to honor. Jim starts with a move made in the 2024 presidential campaign that was widely unpopular but has undoubtedly worked well. And Greg points to am aggressive and disruptive move on Capitol Hill.

Don’t miss Thursday’s special edition as Jim and Greg reveal their choices for Most Overreported Story, Most Underreported Story, and the Best Story of 2023.

Thanks for listening to the 3 Martini Lunch!

Does Jordan Have the Votes? Little Coverage of the Hostages, Biden’s Big Misfire

October 17, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Does Jordan Have the Votes? Little Coverage of the Hostages, Biden’s Big Misfire” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they discuss today’s planned vote for Speaker of the House as Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan seems very close to having the votes to win – but he might not quite be there yet. Will it be resolved today? They’re also puzzled by the surprisingly little coverage of the hundreds of hostages taken by Hamas – some of them American. Normally, the media would have wall-to-wall coverage of something like that. Finally, they react to President Biden’s comments over the weekend about no one needing “a weapon with 100 rounds in the chamber.” In addition to not knowing how guns work, his timing on the gun control push is especially bad.

Dem AG vs. Dem Governor, House Impeachment Inquiry, Wall Street & China

September 13, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Dem AG vs. Dem Governor, House Impeachment Inquiry, Wall Street & China” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they welcome the news that New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torrez, a Democrat, is refusing to defend Gov. Michelle Lujan-Grisham’s unconstitutional “health emergency” that forbids carrying guns in public for 30 days. They also react to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy calling for the launch of a formal impeachment inquiry against President Biden. They explain how the effort is warranted given the growing evidence but Jim argues that the current investigations would likely be more impactful than a formal inquiry. And they dive into what this decision and timing say about McCarthy and his grip on power. Finally, they applaud the House Select Committee on the CCP for taking Wall Street entities to task for investing in Chinese firms that present a direct threat to U.S. national security and human rights. The committee is working in strong bipartisan fashion, but will anything concrete and enforceable come out of all this work?

New Mexico Sheriff Stands Strong, Biden’s Weak 9/11, Granholm’s EV Adventure

September 12, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “New Mexico Sheriff Stands Strong, Biden’s Weak 9/11, Granholm’s EV Adventure” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg for three more powerful martinis today. After chronicling Jim’s emotional roller coaster of watching his Jets lose Aaron Rodgers within four snaps and still find a way to win the game, they cheer Bernalillo County New Mexico Sheriff John Allen for calmly explaining that he will not follow Gov. Lujan-Grisham’s emergency order removing open and concealed carry rights because it is unconstitutional, does not help public safety, and only impacts law-abiding people. They also groan as Biden fails to show up to any of the 9/11 sites yesterday, lies about going to Ground Zero the day after the attacks, and then cuts a sweetheart deal giving prisoners and $6 billion in cash to Iran in exchange for American prisoners. Finally, they get a kick out of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm embarking on an EV trip from Charlotte to Memphis to prove electric vehicles are great for road trips. But that’s not what the trip ended up proving.

No 9/11 Death Penalty? Anti-Gun Governor & the Constitution, Gov. Youngkin’s Pardon

September 11, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “No 9/11 Death Penalty? Anti-Gun Governor & the Constitution, Gov. Youngkin’s Pardon” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they reflect upon 22 years since the horrific 9/11 attacks that significantly changed our nation in so many ways. They then tackle the first frustrating piece of news – that military prosecutors are seriously considering removing the death penalty as a possibility for 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his co-conspirators held at Guantanamo Bay. Jim then launches a legendary scolding of New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham for brazenly violating the Constitution and unilaterally suspending the rights of citizens in her state to open or concealed carry guns. They also cheer Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin for pardoning the Loudoun County dad who was arrested for disrupting a school board meeting after his daughter was sexually assaulted by a male identifying as a female while in school and school leaders lied to him about it and repeatedly tried to cover it up. Finally, they end on the lighter side, as Greg reflects on a horrible performance by his Chicago Bears and Jim deals with the strange feeling of high expectations for his New York Jets.

Smoke in the Skies, Newsom’s Amendment, Pence in for 2024

June 8, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Smoke in the Skies, Newsom’s Amendment, Pence in for 2024” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg for second helping of crazy martinis. They first chide the media’s coverage of the Canadian wildfires, as the smoke makes its way down the Mid-Atlantic United States. They then react to California Gov. Gavin Newsom pushing for a new gun control amendment to the Constitution, but Jim sees an important silver lining. Finally, they discuss Mike Pence’s bid for the Republican presidential nomination, and his potential impact on the campaign.

Tennessee Expulsions, Weaponizing Government, Today’s Big Elections

April 4, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Tennessee Expulsions, Weaponizing Government, Today’s Big Elections” on Spreaker.

Ricochet Editor-in-Chief Jon Gabriel is in for Jim today. Join Jon and Greg as they discuss Republicans in the Tennessee State House of Representatives moving to expel three Democrats for collaborating with gun control activists and joining in their protests that disrupted proceedings on the House floor last week. They also hammer DCCC Chairwoman Suzan DelBene and her husband, Kurt, over the leaking of confidential veteran records of several Republican congressional candidates in the 2022 election cycle. Finally, they highlight the importance of today’s elections for control of the Wisconsin Supreme Court and the runoff between Paul Vallas and Brandon Johnson in the Chicago mayor’s race.

Winsome’s Winning Argument, China’s Balloon Gathered Intel, Asa Hutchinson 2024

April 3, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Winsome’s Winning Argument, China’s Balloon Gathered Intel, Asa Hutchinson 2024” on Spreaker.

Emily Jashinsky of The Federalist is in for Jim today. Emily and Greg cheer Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears for powerfully speaking the truth on parenting, guns, and many other issues to Bill Maher on Friday and pretty much every day since she took office last year. They also groan upon hearing the very predictable news that the Chinese spy balloon was actually able to gather intelligence – including signals – despite the Biden administration insisting it prevented that from happening back in February. Finally, they scratch their heads and wonder why former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson is running for president in 2024 when it appears he’d have little chance even if Trump and DeSantis weren’t running.
