Strong April Border Numbers, Cowardly Biden Cabinet Confessions, Pentagon-Airport Hotline Fail

May 15, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Strong April Border Numbers, Biden Cabinet Confessions, Pentagon-Airport Hotline Fail” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg for Tuesday’s 3 Martini Lunch as they examine big developments on President Trump’s border enforcement, former cabinet officials dishing on Biden’s decline while staying off the record, and an alarming communications failure between the Pentagon and Reagan National Airport that lasted three years – including the night of January’s fatal mid-air collision.

First, they cheer April’s southern border numbers, with just 8,383 apprehensions reported—down 93 percent from April 2024. Jim says the stunning turnaround under President Trump is likely to be ignored by most media outlets now that the crisis is under control.

Next, they dig into a report featuring three former Biden cabinet secretaries who described the former president as “disoriented and out of it,” even observing his mouth agape during meetings. But the sources remain anonymous. Jim wants to know why these cabinet officials didn’t invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Biden from office. Greg slams these anonymous cabinet officials as cowards for not putting their names on their statements, probably because they still have political ambitions.

Finally, they’re stunned by revelations this week that “a hotline connecting air traffic controllers at Reagan National Airport and their counterparts at the Pentagon has been inoperable since March 2022.” That means it also wasn’t working on January 29, when an Army helicopter flew into the path of an American Airlines jet on approach for landing. The hotline was inoperable for nearly three years of the Biden administration and was not discovered until this month.

Hamas Releases Last American Hostage, Trump & the Qatari Plane, Media Blame Shifting Over Biden

May 12, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Hamas Releases Last American Hostage, Trump & the Qatari Plane, Media Blame Shifting Over Biden” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg for the 3 Martini Lunch as they discuss the new pope, Hamas freeing the final American hostage, the Qataris trying to gift President Trump a new Air Force One, and Chuck Todd saying “sources” were the real “culprits” in perpetuating the the myth that Joe Biden was up to the job of president.

First, after a quick discussion on the new pontiff, they breathe a major sigh of relief at the news that Hamas has released Edan Alexander, the last living American hostage from the October 2023 attacks on Israel. Jim says this is undoubtedly good news and he hopes the U.S. keeps applying pressure until all the Israeli hostages under Hamas control are freed as well.

Next, as Trump heads to the Middle East, they urge caution as Qatar offers the president the gift of a luxury Boeing 747 as a new Air Force One. Jim points out that Boeing is woefully behind in producing the next generation plane for the president but says this is still a very bad idea. Questions are swirling about what the Qataris really want in return, but Jim and Greg are more concerned about how the plane could be bugged or compromise national security in some other way given Qatar’s longstanding friendliness with terrorist groups and rogue regimes.

Finally, they get a kick out of longtime NBC News host Chuck Todd saying it’s not the media who should be blamed for covering up Joe Biden’s obvious decline. No, he blames it on “sources” close to Biden who assured him and other reporters Biden was just fine. It’s the latest pathetic excuse for the media, who saw and heard Biden as often as he was in public and dutifully carried the water for Biden’s fitness as he ran for re-election.

Stories That Need More Coverage: Unsustainable Debt, China’s Ambitions, Persecution of Christians & More

May 9, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “The Stories That Need More Coverage: Our Debt, China’s Ambitions, Persecution of Christians & More” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg for a special edition of the 3 Martini Lunch, as they spotlight some of the most underreported stories of 2025. Which critical issues are the media ignoring entirely? And when the stories are covered, what vital context is missing? Today, Jim and Greg each offer three key examples where the press is failing the public.

First, Jim sounds the alarm on the national debt and the media’s refusal to grapple with the long-term consequences of unsustainable entitlement spending. With Democrats now opposing cuts proposed by DOGE, the press is fixated on the political drama while ignoring the looming fiscal disaster. Meanwhile, Greg blasts the media for siding with illegals in deportation cases while downplaying or completely ignoring the violent crimes committed by individuals living in the U.S. illegally.

Next, Jim flags the lack of serious reporting on China’s growing aggression in the South China Sea, warning that the threat is real but getting very little coverage or condemnation. Greg turns to California, where wildfire victims are still waiting on government permits to rebuild their homes, just as he and Jim predicted would happen months ago.

Finally, Jim asks why more Americans aren’t demanding that U.S. colleges prioritize American students over international applicants. And Greg calls out the media’s near-total silence on the brutal persecution and killings of Christians in Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and other parts of the world.

Trump Tariffs Squeezing China, Kemp Won’t Run for Senate, Taliban Selling U.S. Weapons to Terrorists

May 6, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Trump Tariffs Squeezing China, Kemp Won’t Run for Senate, Taliban Selling U.S. Weapons to Terrorists” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg for Wednesday’s 3 Martini Lunch as they discuss the mounting economic pressure on China from President Trump’s new tariffs, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp’s decision not to challenge Sen. Jon Ossoff, and explosive findings that the Taliban is making billions selling abandoned U.S. weapons and vehicles to terrorists.

First, they welcome reports that Trump’s 145 percent tariffs are already hitting China hard—forcing many companies to pull out of the U.S. market, threatening millions of Chinese jobs, and sparking public protests over unpaid wages. But will this lead to any major concessions from the communist leaders in Beijing?

Next, they react to Gov. Kemp’s announcement that he won’t run for the U.S. Senate in 2026. Kemp matched up far better against Ossoff than any other likely Republican candidate. They examine why Kemp decided not to run and what the Senate race will look like without him.

Finally, they unload on new findings from the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR), revealing that the Taliban is making billions by selling the military equipment the U.S. abandoned in Afghanistan to terror groups, including Al Qaeda affiliates. Jim and Greg blast both the Biden administration’s epic failures and empty promises, warning that this predictable disaster now poses grave new threats.

Left Wins Again in Canada, Success & Setbacks vs. the Houthis, GOP Pushes the PELOSI Act

April 29, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Left Wins Again in Canada, Success & Setbacks vs. the Houthis, GOP Pushes the PELOSI Act” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg for Tuesday’s 3 Martini Lunch as they dig into the left winning in Canada again, progress and setbacks in the fight against the Houthis, and a congressional effort to rein in stock trades with the bluntly named PELOSI Act.

First, they groan as Canada’s liberals notch another win, despite earlier signs the Conservative Party might be poised for huge gains. Some on the right blame former President Trump, arguing his tariff threats and repeated jabs about Canada being America’s 51st state rallied voters towards the Liberals But others say Canadians have only themselves to blame for re-electing the same people who badly damaged their country just because Trump made them angry.

Next, they react to troubling developments in the Red Sea, where an American FA/18 fighter jet was lost as the USS Harry S. Truman evaded a Houthi missile strike. While no personnel have been harmed, the U.S. has lost seven drones in the region. On the positive side, CENTCOM also reports significant damage to critical Houthi infrastructure and the deaths of many leaders and fighters. Still, Jim is alarmed by how little attention this ongoing conflict gets from both the media and the Trump administration.

Finally, they cheer on a bill aimed at banning members of Congress from trading individual stocks — and revel in the fact it’s called the PELOSI Act, a not-so-subtle jab at former Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s controversial financial dealings. But they also wonder if the bill’s name might need tweaking to get enough Democrats on board.

Durbin Calling It Quits, U.S. Eliminates Dozens of Terrorists, DNC Ultimatum for David Hogg

April 24, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Durbin Calling It Quits, U.S. Eliminates Dozens of Terrorists, DNC Ultimatum for David Hogg” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg for Tuesday’s 3 Martini Lunch as they enjoy a rare all-good-news episode! Today, they discuss Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin finally hanging it up, major progress against terrorists, and the escalating fight between the DNC and David Hogg.

First, Jim and Greg are glad to see Sen. Durbin announcing his retirement after next year. He’s been on the wrong side of almost every issue for 30 years and he may be best remembered for some very ugly comments on the Senate floor. The sour side of this good martini is that Democrats will be heavy favorites to hold the seat.

Next, they applaud a major counterterrorism success. National Security Adviser Mike Waltz reports that U.S. forces have eliminated 74 terrorist leaders in the first three months of the Trump administration. Additionally, 45 American hostages have been freed. Jim calls these significant victories but urges the administration to release more specifics to the public.

Finally, they relish the growing turmoil inside the DNC. Chairman Ed Martin is preparing to demand that Vice Chair David Hogg stop backing primary challengers to Democratic incumbents or resign. But with Hogg promising combative primaries regardless of his role, Jim and Greg look forward to costly, divisive battles in Democratic primaries across the country.

Matching Menendez Convictions, China Helping Houthis Target U.S. Ships, Will DOJ Charge Cuomo?

April 22, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Matching Menendez Convictions, China Helping Houthis Target U.S. Ships, Will DOJ Charge Cuomo?” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg for the 3 Martini Lunch as they dig into Nadine Menendez’s conviction in the same egregious corruption scandal that will soon send her husband, former New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez, to prison. They also cover new reports of a Chinese-linked company aiding the Houthis in targeting U.S. ships, and House Republicans pressing the Justice Department to prosecute former Gov. Andrew Cuomo for lying to Congress about his COVID-era nursing home cover-up.

First, they’re pleased to see Nadine Menendez found guilty on all 15 counts tied to a bribery scheme involving her husband, the Egyptian government, and over $100,000 in gold bars, cash, and other luxury gifts. Now Mr. and Mrs. Menendez have matching bracelets. Jim blasts the media for largely ignoring the case—arguing that if Bob Menendez were a Republican, this scandal would dominate headlines daily. They also wonder whether Bob Menendez’s begging for a pardon will actually convince President Trump to give him one.

Next, they react to alarming reports that a Chinese government-linked company is assisting the Iran-backed Houthis in targeting U.S. warships and other American vessels in the Red Sea. Jim calls it another front in a proxy war with China and was forced to find foreign press accounts to evaluate the effectiveness of recent U.S. airstrikes.

Finally, they look at House Republicans urging Attorney General Pam Bondi to charge Andrew Cuomo with lying under oath. Despite this and a $450,000 taxpayer-funded settlement to a sexual harassment victim, Cuomo continues to lead the NYC mayoral race by a wide margin.

Pope Francis Dies, Dems’ New El Salvador Stunt, Hogging the DNC Spotlight

April 21, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Pope Francis Dies, Dems’ New El Salvador Stunt, Hogging the DNC Spotlight” on Spreaker.

Jim Geraghty is back! Join Jim and Greg for 3 Martini Lunch as they discuss the death of Pope Francis, more Democrats preparing to grandstand in El Salvador, and David Hogg stirring internal tension within the DNC. Plus, Jim offers a quick update on where he was last week.

First, they react to the passing of Pope Francis, who died just hours after attending Easter Sunday services at the Vatican. Jim and Greg reflect on Francis’s 12-year papacy—highlighting how his comments on cultural and political issues often energized progressives before being walked back by Vatican officials. They also discuss how his views on climate change, wealth redistribution, and illegal immigration often frustrated conservatives. And they humorously clarify that Vice President J.D. Vance had nothing to do with the pope’s passing.

Next, they unpack a trip planned by four House Democrats to El Salvador to advocate for Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Jim criticizes the media’s portrayal of Garcia as a harmless “Maryland Dad,” drawing parallels to past sympathetic framing of problematic figures. He agrees Garcia should return to the U.S. for legal proceedings—before being deported back to El Salvador where he belongs.

Finally, they enjoy the drama unfolding within the Democratic Party as David Hogg announces plans to back challengers to numerous sitting Democrats. His efforts are already causing stress within the DNC, with many Democrats pushing back and defending their incumbents. It’s shaping up to be quite the primary season—popcorn, anyone?

Special Election Stress, More Signal Messages Revealed, How Biden’s Team Muzzled Media

March 26, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Special Election Stress, More Signal Messages Revealed, How Biden's Team Muzzled Media” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg for 3 Martini Lunch as they analyze Republican special election losses and fears there could be more, the latest revelations on the Signal controversy, and the Biden press team’s heavy-handed control over the media.

First, they break down GOP defeats for the state house and state senate in Pennsylvania, including one which Republicans should have won easily. They also highlight the high-stakes Wisconsin Supreme Court race, where Democratic turnout appears to be stronger. Plus, they note additional concerns over an upcoming Florida House race. But Jim says the good news is that the GOP still has time to recover in both Wisconsin and Florida.

Next, they dive into The Atlantic’s publication of Signal messages from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, revealing details about planned U.S. military actions against the Houthis. National Security Adviser Michael Waltz downplayed the report by noting critical details that were not included in Hegseth’s comments. So where does this debate stand now?

Finally, they react to a former Jill Biden media staffer’s claims that President Biden’s press team not only demanded to know reporters’ questions in advance but also dictated which interview quotes could be published after the conversations took place.

Signal Story Significance, GOP Sweating in Florida? Don’t Send Anyone Your DNA

March 25, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Signal Story Significance, GOP Sweating in Florida? Don’t Send Anyone Your DNA” on Spreaker.

Join Jim anJoin Jim and Greg for 3 Martini Lunch as they dive into the Signal chat involving top national security leaders before the U.S. strikes on the Houthis, a surprisingly tight special election in a deep red Florida House district, and the privacy fallout as 23andMe files for bankruptcy and searches for a buyer.

First, they break down Jeffrey Goldberg’s report in The Atlantic, which reveals he was inadvertently added to an encrypted Signal group chat of top national security officials discussing the imminent attack on the Iran-backed Houthis. The White House confirms the chat’s existence and contents. While Jim and Greg support the policy toward the Houthis, they argue such sensitive discussions must happen through more secure channels.

Next, they analyze the unexpectedly competitive special election in Florida’s heavily Republican 6th Congressional District—previously held by National Security Adviser Michael Waltz. With mail-in ballots and early voting indicating a close race, Jim and Greg explain why special elections can produce surprising outcomes but there’s no reason the GOP shouldn’t win this election.

Finally, they react to the news that genetic testing giant 23andMe is filing for bankruptcy and seeking a buyer—potentially putting customers’ DNA in the hands of the highest bidder. While this raises serious privacy concerns, Jim and Greg see it as a critical lesson: never voluntarily hand over your DNA.
