Strong DeSantis Moments, Dems Refuse to Address the Border, Major Debate Sniping

December 7, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Strong DeSantis Moments, Dems Refuse to Address the Border, Major Debate Sniping” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they serve up three important martinis, but they begin by reacting to Thursday morning’s House censure of New York Democrat Jamal Bowman for deliberately pulling a fire alarm to delay a floor vote a couple of months ago.

Then they cheer a couple of strong moments from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in Wednesday night’s debate, including demanding college and universities have more skin in the game when it comes to student loans and citing Calvin Coolidge as a president who inspires him.

They also hammer the Biden administration for balking at efforts by congressional Republicans to address the obviously broken border and tying it to aid for Ukraine and Israel.

Finally, they head back to the debate and address the many dust-ups, usually involving Vivek Ramaswamy against Nikki Haley and Chris Christie.

Remembering Henry Kissinger, Hamas Kills More Israeli Civilians, Trump Supported by BLM?

November 30, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Remembering Henry Kissinger, Hamas Kills More Israeli Civilians, Trump Supported by BLM?” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they remember the long and complicated legacy of former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, who advised presidents for 60 years before his death Wednesday at the age of 100. They highlight Kissinger’s record and why he is deeply respected by some deeply reviled by others.

They also hammer Hamas for the deadly shootings of Israeli civilians in Jerusalem, including a pregnant teacher, and what this means for the temporary ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.

Finally, they scratch their heads after former President Trump claims he has the support of a former Black LIves Matter official and from the organization itself. While the veracity of the BLM support is drawing scrutiny, why would Trump want it in the first place?

Is Biden Getting Tough on Iran? Trump’s Twitter & Your Speech, The Feds & Mayor Adams

November 29, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Is Biden Getting Tough on Iran? Trump’s Twitter & Your Speech, The Feds & Mayor Adams” on Spreaker.

Former federal prosecutor and National Review Contributing Editor Andy McCarthy is in while Jim Geraghty is under the weather. Today, Greg and Andy discuss new sanctions from the U.S. Treasury Department against individuals and entities helping for finance Iran’s military and IRGC. But Andy explains why this step is hardly bold considering Iran’s recent actions against the U.S.

Andy also breaks down the legal and constitutional impact of Special Counsel Jack Smith not only demanding many different details about President Trump’s Twitter account but also Smith demanding the information of anyone who like, retweeted, or otherwise engaged with Trump in the months leading up to January 6th.

Finally, they test out Andy’s postulate that Democrats only prosecute other Democrats to protect Democrats. Is the FBI publicly digging into allegations of illegal fundraising in Adams’ orbit and possibly his ties to Turkey because that’s where the evidence leads or because Adams is now a thorn in the side of the Biden administration.

Climate Doomsday Reality Check, Biden Way Too Soft on Iran, Insane Border Wall Blame Game

November 21, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Climate Doomsday Reality Check, Biden Way Too Soft on Iran, Insane Border Wall Blame Game” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they appreciate new research from Trinity University in Ireland and The Ohio State University showing that the climate alarmists are way off and that increased carbon dioxide is absorbed by trees and others plants and makes them stronger – just like we learned in basic biology class. They also wince as the Biden administration continues to tread very lightly with Iran despite more than four dozen attacks on U.S. positions in the Middle East by Iran proxy groups and the hijacking of a ship in the Red Sea by Iran-backed Houthi rebels. Finally, they get a good laugh out of a USA TODAY story bemoaning  the serious injuries illegal immigrants are suffering by falling off of our new 30-foot high border walls. And of course, there’s no suggestion that the migrants are responsible for their own actions. No, it’s the wall’s fault – and the people that wanted it.

Massive Pro-Israel Rally in D.C., Biden’s Bad AI Deal with China, Fight Night on Capitol Hill

November 15, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Massive Pro-Israel Rally in D.C., Biden’s Bad AI Deal with China, Fight Night on Capitol Hill” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they celebrate the huge, peaceful, civilized rally in support of Israel on Tuesday, an event which brought a very welcome contrast to the violent, hateful demonstrations seen on campus and beyond against Israel and even supportive of Hamas.

They also wince at reports that President Biden is planning to sign a deal with Chinese dictator Xi Xinping to limit the use of artificial intelligence in nuclear weapons systems and drones because China won’t honor anything it signs if it has a strategic interest in violating the agreement.

Finally, they size up Tuesday’s near fight on Capitol Hill between Oklahoma Sen. Markwayne Mullin and Teamsters Union President Sean O’Brien with Bernie Sanders intervening to stop it. And former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy was part of a dust-up on the House side of Capitol Hill.

Exposing the Hamas Hospital Lies, House GOP Still in Disarray, Gov. Hochul’s Social Media Snooping

November 14, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Exposing the Hamas Hospital Lies, House GOP Still in Disarray, Gov. Hochul’s Social Media Snooping” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they welcome the detailed reporting from CNN’s Nic Robertson, as Israeli Defense Forces explained to him on camera how Hamas was using a hospital in Gaza as an armory and military command post – a strategy that unnecessarily put many civilians in harm’s way.

They also sigh as House Republicans still cannot seem to agree on much – the latest evidence being the failure to impeach Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who so richly deserves to get the boot. There’s also the fight over government spending as the Freedom Caucus refuses to get behind another continuing resolution backed by House Speaker Mike Johnson.

Finally, they say no way as New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announces she has created a social media analysis unit to crack down on hate online. While there is too much hate online, giving the government more power over our speech is a recipe for disaster.

Jim in Taiwan: The Chinese Threat, Strong Defenses, Earthquakes & Innovation

November 2, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Jim in Taiwan: The Chinese Threat, Strong Defenses, Earthquakes & Innovation” on Spreaker.

Jim spent more than a week in Taiwan, getting first-hand briefing and answers to key questions about how our ally is bracing for a possible Chinese invasion. Today, Jim briefs us on what he learned – the good the bad and the crazy.

First, Jim explains the significant advantages Taiwan has in the event of Chinese aggression. From the physical characteristics of the island to the massive urban setting and even jungle conditions in other areas, China would face a hostile environment in addition to a hostile population.

Then Jim details the sobering assessment that China will likely attack within the next several years. He also shares how Taiwan’s lack of formal independence gives it a second-class status in several important ways – from the United Nations to being ignored by Interpol and the World Health Organization.

Finally, Jim reveals some of the intense and amusing sidelights, from being caught in an earthquake to the quirks of other journalists on the trip to his overt jealousy of the superior engineering of Taiwanese toilets.

U.S. Strikes Back at Iran, FBI/DOJ Burying Evidence on Biden? Bowman’s Sweetheart Deal

October 27, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “U.S. Strikes Back at Iran, FBI/DOJ Burying Evidence on Biden? Bowman’s Sweetheart Deal” on Spreaker.

Former Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney and National Review Contributing Editor Andy McCarthy is in for Jim, who will be back on Monday. Today, Andy and Greg cheer the U.S. strikes against Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps sites in Syria following multiple drone attacks against U.S. forces in the region last week. But Andy is very concerned that the Biden administration refuses to get tough with Iran, who is clearly collaborating with Hamas, Russia, and the Chinese.

Andy also breaks down the open letter from Sen. Chuck Grassley alleging that dozens of whistleblowers have told him the FBI and Justice Department are refusing to follow up on key evidence of the Biden family corruption and are actively trying to bury it all.

Finally, Andy walks us through the incredibly generous deal offered to New York Rep. Jamal Bowman for intentionally pulling a fire alarm to delay a House vote late last month. New video proves Bowman’s story to date is false. Andy explains why Bowman should have been charged with disrupting a congressional proceeding and why this sweetheart deal of a $1,000 fine and the charge not staying on his record permanently was done.

NY Voters & the Migrant Crisis, U.S. Military Attacked in Middle East, AP & VOA Won’t Call Hamas Terrorists

October 25, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “NY Voters & the Migrant Crisis, U.S. Military Attacked in Middle East, AP & VOA Won’t Call Hamas Terrorists” on Spreaker.

Hillsdale College Radio General Manager and Radio Free Hillsdale Hour Host Scot Bertram is in for Jim. Today, Scot and Greg muse over the latest twists and turns in the House Speaker race as Louisiana Rep. Mike Johnson seems to be in position to get elected by his fellow Republicans today. Then it’s on to the martinis! First, they welcome a strong majority of New York voters agreeing with NYC Mayor Eric Adams that the illegal migrant crisis is going to destroy the city. And they overwhelmingly disapprove of how the Biden administration is handling the issue. They also recoil at the news Iranian proxies have launched drone attacks at U.S. positions in Syria and Iraq, injuring two dozen U.S. personnel. And they’re also mad that the government kept this information from the public for a week. Finally, they scold the Associated Press and taxpayer-funded Voice of America for telling their reporters not to refer to Hamas as terrorists.
