Signal Story Significance, GOP Sweating in Florida? Don’t Send Anyone Your DNA

March 25, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Signal Story Significance, GOP Sweating in Florida? Don’t Send Anyone Your DNA” on Spreaker.

Join Jim anJoin Jim and Greg for 3 Martini Lunch as they dive into the Signal chat involving top national security leaders before the U.S. strikes on the Houthis, a surprisingly tight special election in a deep red Florida House district, and the privacy fallout as 23andMe files for bankruptcy and searches for a buyer.

First, they break down Jeffrey Goldberg’s report in The Atlantic, which reveals he was inadvertently added to an encrypted Signal group chat of top national security officials discussing the imminent attack on the Iran-backed Houthis. The White House confirms the chat’s existence and contents. While Jim and Greg support the policy toward the Houthis, they argue such sensitive discussions must happen through more secure channels.

Next, they analyze the unexpectedly competitive special election in Florida’s heavily Republican 6th Congressional District—previously held by National Security Adviser Michael Waltz. With mail-in ballots and early voting indicating a close race, Jim and Greg explain why special elections can produce surprising outcomes but there’s no reason the GOP shouldn’t win this election.

Finally, they react to the news that genetic testing giant 23andMe is filing for bankruptcy and seeking a buyer—potentially putting customers’ DNA in the hands of the highest bidder. While this raises serious privacy concerns, Jim and Greg see it as a critical lesson: never voluntarily hand over your DNA.

GOP Wins Last House Race, China’s Dangerous DNA Plans, Omar’s Shady Finances

February 8, 2021 by GregC

Listen to “GOP Wins Last House Race, China's Dangerous DNA Plans, Omar's Shady Finances” on Spreaker.

After a very brief Super Bowl recap, Jim and Greg cheer Claudia Tenney winning the final House race from the 2020 cycle and relish Democrats trotting out some awfully familiar complaints of irregularities. They also shudder at a new government report showing China is stealing the DNA of American citizens for nefarious purposes. And they discuss how Ilhan Omar’s husband is getting very rich by consulting with her campaign, and the craziest part is that it’s all apparently legal.

Gates vs. Warren, Government & Your DNA, Libs Push Population Control

November 7, 2019 by GregC

Listen to “Gates vs. Warren, Government & Your DNA, Libs Push Population Control” on Spreaker.

Jim is on vacation but there’s still plenty of fireworks on Thursday’s Three Martini Lunch. Greg is joined by Chad Benson, host of “The Chad Benson Show.”  Today, they get a kick out Bill Gates wondering just how much of his money Elizabeth Warren wants and concluding a conversation with Warren might not be worth his time because he’s not sure how open-minded she is.  They also recoil as a judge allows police to demand DNA from one of those outfits that tracks your heritage as part of an investigation, although Chad reminds us we all have pretty much voluntarily given up our privacy. And they fire back at 11,000 “scientists” who now say the Green New Deal is not enough, but we have to engage in population control too.

Trump Wants California Refund, Big Brother in Arizona, American in ISIS Misses Home

February 20, 2019 by GregC

Listen to “Trump Wants California Refund, Big Brother in Arizona, American in ISIS Misses Home” on Spreaker.

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America applaud President Trump for demanding that California return the $2.5 billion it received from the federal government for its high-speed railway after the project was dramatically scaled back. They also raise their eyebrows at Arizona’s plans to collect the DNA of state residents and charge them a fee to do so. And they explain that while our society is very forgiving, it might be asking a bit much to welcome back an ISIS propagandist with open arms.

Obamacare Struck Down, Trump’s Dumb Tweets, Warren Admits She’s White

December 17, 2018 by GregC

Listen to “Obamacare Struck Down, Trump’s Dumb Tweets, Warren Admits She’s White” on Spreaker.

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America welcome a federal judge’s decision to strike down Obamacare now that Congress has repealed the individual mandate.  They also cringe as President Trump’s digs his legal holes deeper and deeper with more impulsive, ranting tweets.  And they react to Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren admitting she’s not a person of color just weeks after trying to score political points with her DNA test.

Heller’s Momentum, Suspecting the Saudis, Warren’s Weak ‘Vindication’

October 15, 2018 by GregC

Listen to “Heller’s Momentum, Suspecting the Saudis, Warren’s Weak ‘Vindication'” on Spreaker.

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America cautiously welcome polls showing Nevada Sen. Dean Heller winning his race and House Republicans holding a one-point edge in the 66 most competitive districts.  They cringe at allegations the Saudis may have killed journalist Jamal Kashoggi and what it may mean for U.S.-Saudi relations.  And they roll their eyes as Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s claims victory in the debate over her heritage because a DNA test showed she was anywhere from 1/64 to 1/1,024 American Indian.

Kelly’s Ethics Crackdown, Problems in Pennsylvania, Warren’s DNA Dodge

March 12, 2018 by GregC

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America applaud White House Chief of Staff John Kelly for blasting four cabinet secretaries on ethics matters ranging from travel to office decor.  They also shake their heads a day in advance of the special congressional election in Pennsylvania, as the Republican appears to be running a very weak campaign and the Democrat believes life begins at conception but opposes late-term abortions.  And they get a kick out of Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren refusing to take a DNA test to resolve the controversy over her claims of Cherokee ancestry.
