Matching Menendez Convictions, China Helping Houthis Target U.S. Ships, Will DOJ Charge Cuomo?

April 22, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Matching Menendez Convictions, China Helping Houthis Target U.S. Ships, Will DOJ Charge Cuomo?” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg for the 3 Martini Lunch as they dig into Nadine Menendez’s conviction in the same egregious corruption scandal that will soon send her husband, former New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez, to prison. They also cover new reports of a Chinese-linked company aiding the Houthis in targeting U.S. ships, and House Republicans pressing the Justice Department to prosecute former Gov. Andrew Cuomo for lying to Congress about his COVID-era nursing home cover-up.

First, they’re pleased to see Nadine Menendez found guilty on all 15 counts tied to a bribery scheme involving her husband, the Egyptian government, and over $100,000 in gold bars, cash, and other luxury gifts. Now Mr. and Mrs. Menendez have matching bracelets. Jim blasts the media for largely ignoring the case—arguing that if Bob Menendez were a Republican, this scandal would dominate headlines daily. They also wonder whether Bob Menendez’s begging for a pardon will actually convince President Trump to give him one.

Next, they react to alarming reports that a Chinese government-linked company is assisting the Iran-backed Houthis in targeting U.S. warships and other American vessels in the Red Sea. Jim calls it another front in a proxy war with China and was forced to find foreign press accounts to evaluate the effectiveness of recent U.S. airstrikes.

Finally, they look at House Republicans urging Attorney General Pam Bondi to charge Andrew Cuomo with lying under oath. Despite this and a $450,000 taxpayer-funded settlement to a sexual harassment victim, Cuomo continues to lead the NYC mayoral race by a wide margin.

Dems Fail Female Athletes Again, Trump’s Ukraine Stumbles, Cuomo Launches Comeback

March 4, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Dems Fail Female Athletes Again, Trump’s Ukraine Stumbles, Cuomo Launches Comeback” on Spreaker.

Former Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney and National Review Contributing Editor Andy McCarthy joins Greg for today’s 3 Martini Lunch. They break down Senate Democrats blocking a ban on males in women’s sports, Andy’s argument that Trump is most to blame for the Oval Office confrontation with Zelensky, and Andrew Cuomo’s political comeback as he runs for mayor of New York City.

First, they highlight how every Senate Democrat voted against legislation barring men from competing in women’s sports, preventing the bill from advancing. They explain why Democrats refuse to change course, even as they keep handing Republicans a potent campaign issue.

Next, Andy asserts that the biggest problem in Friday’s heated Oval Office exchange was Trump himself—allowing the photo-op to drag on, failing to grasp the Russian threat, and positioning himself as neutral between Russia and Ukraine. He also argues against the type of war resolution Trump appears to support.

Finally, they react as disgraced former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo officially launches his mayoral bid. While Cuomo correctly identifies many of New York City’s biggest issues, Andy reminds listeners that Cuomo’s own policies are largely responsible for the city’s decline.

Trump Targets the Cartels, Trump vs. Zelensky, Congestion Toll Clash & Cuomo’s Return

February 20, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Trump Targets the Cartels, Trump vs. Zelensky, Congestion Toll Clash & Cuomo’s Return” on Spreaker.

Inez Stepman of the Independent Women’s Forum fills in for Jim today. Join Inez and Greg for 3 Martini Lunch as they analyze the U.S. decision to designate cartels and gangs as terrorist organizations, President Trump’s sharp criticism of Ukrainian President Zelensky, and the latest developments on congestion tolls in New York City, where Andrew Cuomo’s political ambitions are taking shape.

First, they commend the State Department for labeling MS-13, Tren de Aragua, and several cartels as terrorist organizations. They discuss why this designation matters, the impact it may have, and how it aligns with Trump’s national security strategy.

Next, they break down President Trump’s strong criticism of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. They examine where Trump’s rhetoric diverges from the facts and how how Trump most likely believes this statement will help bring the war to an end. And while Trump and others have suggested possible Ukrainian concessions to reach a deal, Greg and Inez also consider what demands should be placed on Russia.

Finally, they dive into two major news items in New York City, where Inez resides. They assess the battle between the Trump administration and Gov. Kathy Hochul over congestion tolls. Plus, they react to reports that former Gov. Andrew Cuomo is likely to announce his run for mayor before the month ends.

The Supreme Court & Eminent Domain, U.S. Troop Surge in Syria, Anthony Weiner Is Back

December 23, 2024 by GregC

Listen to “The Supreme Court & Eminent Domain, U.S. Troop Surge in Syria, Anthony Weiner Is Back” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg on 3 Martini Lunch as they discuss the potential reversal of one of the U.S. Supreme Court’s worst decisions, the significant increase in U.S. troops in Syria, and the surprising comeback of disgraced politician Anthony Weiner.

First , they highlight the Supreme Court’s possible reconsideration of its 2005 eminent domain ruling. They analyze why this decision needs to be overturned, considering its negative impact on property rights and legal precedents.

First, they’re glad to hear that the U.S. Supreme Court is considering whether to hear a case that could allow the court to reverse its awful 2005 eminent domain ruling. Jim and Greg review just how bad the original decision was and Jim explains that sometimes the court needs to overturn lousy precedents.

Next, they cover the Pentagon’s recent announcement that U.S. troop numbers in Syria have surged to 2,000. The previously announced number was 900 personnel. Jim considers why the Defense Department is admitting this now and they’re hopeful that U.S. won’t get further involved in the ongoing instability in Syria.

Finally, they react to reports that disgraced former Rep. Anthony Weiner is considering a 2025 run for New York City Council. Weiner’s political career was derailed twice after he was caught sending lewd photos of himself to othet women. He was also send to prison for illicit online contact with a 15-year-old girl. Surely, New York City has better options than him, right?

Starting next week, be sure to hear the year-end 3 Martini Lunch Awards. Over six episodes, Jim and Greg cover many different categories, starting with Most Overrated, Most Underrated, and Most Honest Political Figures, culminating in the Person of the Year, Loser of the Year, and Turncoat of the Year awards on New Year’s Eve.

On Christmas Day, we’ll revisit our conversation with actor and director Robert Davi from earlier this year. And on New Year’s Day, Jim and Greg will offer their predictions for 2025.

China Infiltrates NY Government, Tucker Platforms WWII Lunacy, Reviewing ‘Reagan’

September 4, 2024 by GregC

Listen to “China Infiltrates NY Government, Tucker Platforms WWII Lunacy, Reviewing ‘Reagan'” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they assess a high-ranking former New York government official getting charged with spying for China, Tucker Carlson platforming an “historian” pushing insane ideas about World War II, and the ‘Reagan’ movie.

First, they shake their heads as the former Deputy Chief of Staff to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul is charged with spying on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). They also roll their eyes that Hochul is shocked that the CCP would do such a thing, but they do appreciate her referring to Taiwan as a country.

Next, they unload on Tucker Carlson for hosting a long, nonconfrontational interview with an “historian” who contends that Winston Churchill is the “chief villain” of World War II and that the Holocaust was simply the response to the Nazis capturing so many Russian prisoners who would have otherwise starved to death.

Finally, they offer their reviews of “Reagan,” the new film depicting Reagan’s lifelong crusade against Soviet communism from Hollywood to the Oval Office. And while they both offer some constructive criticism, they see the film as a good account of how Reagan viewed the communist threat and how he successfully dealt with it.

Soaring Gas Prices, Harris Lies On Voting, Cuomo Won’t Go Away

March 7, 2022 by GregC

Listen to “Soaring Gas Prices, Harris Lies On Voting, Cuomo Won’t Go Away” on Spreaker.
Join Jim and Greg as they cover the causes of skyrocketing prices at the pump and the Biden administration’s failure to take necessary measures to bring them down. They also wonder if President Biden regrets picking Kamala Harris to be his Vice President as she continues to embarrass herself on the national stage – this time by comparing Bloody Selma to recent voting law changes in some states. And despite attending a church service, a Brooklyn congregation was treated to a 20 minute speech by disgraced former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo on things that should be cancelled before him.

Redistricting Favors GOP, Cuomo Dodges Prosecution, Northam’s Snow Job

January 4, 2022 by GregC

Listen to “Redistricting Favors GOP, Cuomo Dodges Prosecution, Northam’s Snow Job” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they welcome evaluations showing the GOP likely to gain seats – and a House majority – thanks to redistricting. They also frown as former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo won’t face any charges for his COVID nursing home cover-up or his harassment of women. And they shudder at the 24-hour-plus nightmare for travelers on I-95 in Virginia, wondering why Gov. Ralph Northam didn’t take decisive action sooner and why so many people are blaming Glenn Youngkin, who won’t be governor until next week.
