Cabinet Confirmation Conflict, Trump Brands Houthis Terrorists Again, Brennan’s Laptop Lies
Join Jim and Greg for 3 Martini Lunch, as they discuss Senate Majority Leader John Thune vowing to make Democrats pay for holding up President Trump’s cabinet nominations, President Trump’s decision to designate the Houthis as terrorists once again, and former CIA Director John Brennan’s attempt to cover up his previous laptop lie with more falsehoods.
First, Jim and Greg commend Senate Republicans for standing firm against Democratic attempts to delay the confirmation of President Trump’s cabinet nominees. With Democrats blocking quick consideration on the Senate floor, they may find themselves stuck in Washington over the weekend when the final votes take place.
Next, they cheer President Trump’s decision to reclassify the Iran-backed Houthis as a foreign terrorist organization. After Joe Biden removed the Houthis from the list upon taking office, he later imposed much lighter sanctions on the group. This move was widely viewed as an attempt to appease Iran, even as the Houthis continued to create chaos for shipping in the Red Sea and throughout the region.
Finally, they get a good laugh as former CIA Director John Brennan whines to MSNBC about Trump rescinding his security clearance. Brennan, along with dozens of others, falsely claimed in 2020 that the Hunter Biden laptop was part of a Russian disinformation campaign. Now, he tries to backpedal, claiming he never said it was disinformation, but rather a “Russian information operation.” Jim and Greg are having none of it.
Biden’s Ammo Pause for Israel, Rep. Cuellar Indicted for Bribery, Gov. Noem Keeps Digging
There are no good martinis to start the week but Jim and Greg have plenty to discuss about President Biden playing hardball with Israel over ammunition, a seemingly sane House Democrat getting indicted on bribery charges, and South Dakota Gov. just making things worse as she tries to promote her new book.
First, they fume over reports that Biden has paused the delivery of some U.S.-made ammunition to Israel, with no explanation from the White House or anyone else. Is this designed to discourage Israel from going into Rafah to eradicate Hamas? Whatever the reason, an explanation is warranted.
Then, they discuss the indictments aimed at Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar and his wife Imelda over them allegedly accepting $600,000 in bribes from an energy firm connected with the Azerbaijan government. If it’s true, Cuellar obviously ought to be prosecuted. But are Democrats also eager to oust the Democrat most likely to make common cause with Republicans on the border and other issues?
Finally, they have multiple observations about South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem’s failed attempts to stop the political bleeding over revelations in her new book. From dog killing to whether she ever met with North Korean dictators Kim Jon Un, the answers on “Face the Nation” Sunday were less than impressive – and further proof she won’t be and shouldn’t be nominated for vice president.

Trump Rolls Back Obama EPA Rule, Media Sugarcoat Socialism, Security Clearance Roulette
Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America applaud the Trump administration for rolling back the burdensome EPA clean power plant regulations and giving the states more flexibility in how they deal with emissions. They also unload on CNN and other media outlets for reporting on tearful reunions among family members living in North and South Korea after nearly 70 years, blaming the separation on the Korean War rather than a brutally repressive communist regime in North Korea. And they shake their heads as President Trump takes to Twitter and muses about pulling security clearances based on what former national security officials say about him on cable television.
