Marsha Blackburn expanding her lead over Democrat Phil Bredesen in the tight Tennessee Senate race.  They also cringe as UN Ambassador Nikki Haley announces she is resigning at the end of the year, ending two years of clear, principled service on behalf of the U.S.  And Jim unloads on Democrats for suggesting the Kavanaugh confirmation was illegitimate by pointing out that Democrats have declared almost every good election result for conservatives over the past 40 years to be illegitimate for one reason or another.

Nashville Nightmare, James Shaw’s Heroism, Corker’s Pathetic Endorsement

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America recoil at the horror of four people killed in a Tennessee mass shooting, but the shock turns to anger at the news that authorities took away the shooter’s guns last year, left them with his dad under orders to keep the guns locked up, but the dad gave the weapons back to the shooter.  At the same time, they marvel at the heroism of James Shaw, Jr., who attacked and disarmed the shooter without any weapons of his own.  And they discuss Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker’s “endorsement” of Marsha Blackburn in the race to replace him – in what might be the most pathetic endorsement we’ve ever seen.

Bob Corker will not become “the Brett Favre of politics” as the senator confirms he will honor his initial decision not to run for re-election this year.  They also discuss efforts by House Democrats to ban every semi-automatic firearm that has a detachable magazine and every one that can hold more than ten rounds, with Jim detailing the random, uninformed approach Democrats appear to be taking on this issue.  They have some fun with the news actress Stacey Dash and former MSNBC hothead Dylan Ratigan are running for Congress.  And they pay tribute to National Review Founder William F. Buckley, Jr. ten years after his death.

Clinton & Obama Silence, Twitter Censors GOP Video, NFL Madness Gets Worse

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America give credit to the mainstream media for calling Democrats to account for their silence over the sexual assault and harassment allegations lodged against Hollywood mogul and prolific Democratic Party donor Harvey Weinstein.  They also fire back at Twitter after the social media service censors a video from Tennessee GOP Senate hopeful Marsha Blackburn because her efforts to stop the sale of aborted baby body parts were considered inflammatory and likely to elicit negative reactions.  And Jim and Greg sigh as the latest NFL protest chaos includes ESPN host Jemele Hill getting suspended for encouraging Dallas Cowboy fans to boycott team sponsors, Al Sharpton vowing to boycott the NFL unless Hill is reinstated, and President Trump gloating over the Hill suspension.
