Kamala’s Minimal Impact, DNC Deception, Bannon Indicted

August 20, 2020 by GregC

Listen to “Kamala’s Minimal Impact, DNC Deception, Bannon Indicted” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they welcome the news that Biden’s selection of Kamala Harris is having very little impact on the presidential race. They also roll their eyes as Hillary Clinton suggests to the convention yet again that she really won the election and Barack Obama, of all people, says we need a president who will faithfully defend the Constitution.  And they react to the news that former White House official and Trump 2016 campaign honcho Steve Bannon is under indictment for allegedly defrauding a charity supposedly funding a border wall.

Trump Blasts Bannon, Dow Crosses 25,000, GOP Wins Virginia Tiebreaker

January 4, 2018 by GregC

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America enjoy three good martinis today.  First, they get a kick out of President Trump blasting former aide Steve Bannon over Bannon’s comments in a forthcoming book, with Trump saying Bannon has lost his mind.  They also celebrate the Dow Jones Industrial Average crossing the 25,000 barrier for the first time, and point out that businesses have some certainty that they’re not about to get blindsided buy tax hikes or burdensome regulations for at least another three years.  And they enjoy the news that the Republican candidate won the tiebreaker in a Virginia legislative race, giving control of the chamber to the GOP for the next two years.

Hatch Hangs it Up, Trump’s Button Measuring, Bannon Turns on Trump

January 3, 2018 by GregC

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America welcome the retirement of Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch and give him credit for the things he’s done well, and while they like Mitt Romney, they wonder if Utah is missing out on a younger and more conservative replacement for Hatch.  They also slam President Trump for his childish tweet about having a bigger nuclear button than Kim Jong-Un.  And they react to Steve Bannon unloading on his former White House rivals and accusing Donald Trump, Jr., Jared Kushner, and Paul Manafort of treason.

Update:  Since this recording, Trump has responded to Bannon.  “Steve Bannon has nothing to do with me or my Presidency.  When he was fired, he not only lost his job, he lost his mind,” reads part of the statement.  Trump also accuses Bannon of leaking extensively during his time in office.

Moore Winds up with Less, GOP’s Bleak 2018 Outlook, Moore Refuses to Concede

December 13, 2017 by GregC

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America react to liberal Democrat Doug Jones winning a Senate seat over Republican Roy Moore in Alabama but see a silver lining in that it will be tougher for Democrats to link Moore to every GOP candidate in 2018.  They also see some troubling parallels between 2017 election results and the ones in 2009 and 2010, suggesting Republicans may be on the brink of a Democratic tide similar to the Tea Party wave of 2010.  They roll their eyes as Roy Moore refuses to concede the Senate race despite trailing by more than 20,000 votes, but Greg and Jim also get an idea from the Alabama Senate race that could boost the Senate GOP and solve Jim’s NFL woes at the same time.

Russians Banned from Olympics, Bannon vs. Romney, Flake Backs Alabama Dem

December 6, 2017 by GregC

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America enjoy watching the Russians get barred from competing in the 2018 Winter Olympics because of an ongoing doping scandal, and they also get a kick out of the International Olympic Committee suddenly caring about corruption.  They also shake their heads as Steve Bannon tries to discredit Mitt Romney’s denunciation of Roy Moore by saying Moore served in Vietnam and Romney avoided it by “hiding behind his religion.”  And they scold Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake, who not only condemns Roy Moore but is contributing to liberal Democrat Doug Jones.

Gillespie Gains, Alabama Dead Heat, Pathetic Plan to Make Hillary President

October 18, 2017 by GregC

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America note Republican Virginia gubernatorial candidate Ed Gillespie grabbing a small lead in one poll and greatly closing the gap in others as his tough stance on gang violence resonates with voters.  They’re also stunned to see Republican Roy Moore and Democrat Doug Jones knotted at 42-42 in a new poll of the special election to fill a U.S. Senate seat in Alabama.  And they suggest an intervention may be needed after Harvard law professor Lawrence Lessig unveils his ludicrous five-point plan to make Hillary Clinton president in the near future.

SJW Coddling Costs Mizzou, ISIS Airliner Plot, The Trump-Bannon Break-Up

August 21, 2017 by GregC

Jim Geraghty of National Review is back!  Today, after some sage insights on today’s solar eclipse, he and Greg Corombos of Radio America applaud alumni and parents of college-age students for ending donations and sending their children to other schools after administrators there caved into the demands of social justice warriors in 2015.  They also get chills in learning just how close ISIS came to blowing up an international jetliner and have a newfound appreciation for the weight limits for luggage.  And they discuss the end of Steve Bannon’s time at the White House and what he means by saying the Trump presidency he worked for is effectively over.

McDaniel Makes It Clear, Bannon Goes Rogue, Kasich’s Quixotic Dream

August 17, 2017 by GregC

David French of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America applaud Republican National Committee Chairman Ronna Romney McDaniel for simply stating there is no room in the Republican Party for white supremacists and that the GOP does not want their votes.  They’re also surprised by Steve Bannon’s on-the-record interview with a liberal publication, in which he dismisses the military option on North Korea, outlines his push for a trade war with China and more.  And they take a deep sigh as Ohio Gov. John Kasich gets closer to convincing himself there is a “moral imperative” for him to run against President Trump in 2020.

GOP Obamacare Debacle, Scaramucci’s Loose Screw, Politics Plunge NFL Ratings

July 28, 2017 by GregC

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America condemn Republican Senators John McCain, Susan Collins, and Lisa Murkowski for failing to deliver on their campaign promises to repeal and replace Obamacare during a vote late Thursday night, while also stressing the mistakes made by GOP leaders and the major flaws in the “skinny repeal”.  Jim mocks new White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci for threats and vulgar comments about his colleagues, underscoring already fractious conditions in the new administration.  In an attempt to end the week on a good note, Jim and Greg discuss a new poll showing that more fans stopped watching the NFL last season because of the national anthem protests than for any other reason.
