Common Ground with Canada, Buttigieg’s Bogus Blame, Bass’ Protest Paralysis

February 4, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Common Ground with Canada, Buttigieg’s Bogus Blame, Bass’ Protest Paralysis” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg for 3 Martini Lunch as they analyze President Trump’s decision to pause tariffs on Canada, Pete Buttigieg’s absurd theory about a deadly air disaster in D.C., and Mayor Karen Bass failing to control protests in Los Angeles.

First, they dive into the new U.S.-Canada border security arrangement, which has resulted in a pause of tariffs on both sides. They discuss the potential impact of this agreement and debate whether it could have been reached without the threat of tariffs, or if the public pressure and political environment played a significant role in reaching this deal.

Next, they discuss former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg’s comments on the deadly air disaster in Washington, D.C. Buttigieg suggested that the Trump administration’s offer for federal employees to resign in exchange for eight months of severance might have contributed to the tragic collision between a regional jetliner and an Army Blackhawk helicopter. Jim and Greg explain why they believe this theory is absurd and offer an update on Buttigieg’s potential run for Michigan’s U.S. Senate seat.

Finally, they address Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass failing to confront unruly protests against deportations of illegal immigrants. Despite the protests causing major disruptions to traffic and defacing government buildings, Bass has not taken action to restore order. Jim says this is the latest evidence that Bass is simply incapable of leading the city.

Colombia Caves on Illegals, CIA Points to COVID Lab Leak, Trump Won’t Let Bass Off the Hook

January 27, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Colombia Caves on Illegals, CIA Points to COVID Lab Leak, Trump Won’t Let Bass Off the Hook” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg for all good martinis on the 3 Martini Lunch podcast as they dive into Colombia’s brief resistance to the U.S. returning criminal illegals, the CIA’s admission about COVID-19’s likely lab leak origin, and President Trump’s push to speed up recovery efforts for California wildfire victims.

First, Jim and Greg recap the short-lived trade war with Colombia. Tensions flared when Colombia’s president initially refused to allow repatriation flights carrying criminal illegals to land in the country. In response, President Trump swiftly threatened major tariffs and other diplomatic penalties. Colombia quickly reversed course, agreeing to Trump’s demands and allowing the flights to proceed.

Next, Jim celebrates the CIA’s acknowledgment of what many had suspected all along: that the most likely cause of the COVID-19 pandemic was a lab leak from Wuhan, China. Most of us have known this for a long time, but the Biden-era CIA infamously decided it was unclear how it all started. But that doesn’t mean this is over. Jim says these new conclusions should lead to important new questions.

Finally, Jim and Greg discuss Trump’s recent call for faster action to help Los Angeles-area residents who lost their homes in wildfires. During a public forum with LA Mayor Karen Bass, Trump urged local officials to streamline bureaucracy, allowing fire victims to access their property and begin debris removal to make way for rebuilding.

Dem Debacle at Hegseth Hearings, Minnesota Legislature Standoff, Bass Still Floundering

January 15, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Dem Debacle at Hegseth Hearings, Minnesota Legislature Standoff, Bass Still Floundering” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg on 3 Martini Lunch as they dive into the Senate Democrats’ focus on theatrics over persuasion during the Pete Hegseth confirmation hearings, the Minnesota House of Representatives’ political standoff, and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass still sounding tone deaf over her performance during the wildfire crisis.

First, they analyze Pete Hegseth’s opening statement during his bid to become Secretary of Defense. Then they focus on the embarrassing spectacle put on by Senate Democrats. Rather than focusing on persuasive arguments, many Senate Democrats appeared more interested in creating viral moments and making it far more likely that Hegseth will be confirmed.

Next, they discuss the political turmoil in Minnesota, where Republicans hold a slim one-seat majority in the state House of Representatives. Democrats are boycotting the chamber to prevent Republicans from forming committees and advancing their legislative agenda. With a special election approaching, Democrats are accusing the GOP of a “coup” and demanding further delay before any legislative action can take place.

Finally, they shake their heads as Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass still doesn’t have a good answer about whether she should have left for Ghana when the warnings for severe wildfire conditions were so high. Jim minces few words about the mayor’s job performance and her very unimpressive public appearances.

Lab Leak Momentum, Social Media Mayhem, Lower LAPD Standards?

February 27, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Lab Leak Momentum, Social Media Mayhem, Lower LAPD Standards?” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they react to the Department of Energy warming to the idea that the COVID pandemic originated with a lab leak in China. They also welcome the bipartisan concern over the devastating impact that social media is having on teenagers, including significant increases in suicidal thoughts – particularly among girls. Finally, they cringe as new Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass wants to lower standards for police recruits in order to increase the diversity of the LAPD.
