Join Jim and Greg for Tuesday’s 3 Martini Lunch as they dig into the New York Times’ latest attempt to undermine President Trump and congressional Republicans, Trump’s push to reopen Alcatraz as a federal prison, and Michelle Obama’s newest, tiresome complaints about life in the White House.

First, they tear into the New York Times for framing the Congressional Review Act (CRA) as an “obscure” tool possibly being misused by Republicans to undo Biden-era regulations. The article warns readers that opponents can’t filibuster CRA rollbacks—something the left suddenly finds troubling now that Republicans control Congress. Jim dismantles the Times’ arguments, defends Trump’s use of the CRA, and calls out the media’s hypocritical coverage of these tactics.

Next, they react to President Trump’s call to reopen Alcatraz as a prison for the nation’s most dangerous criminals. He also hints at sending criminal illegals there, blaming judges “that are afraid to do their job and allow us to remove criminals.” Jim and Greg aren’t sure that specifically rebuilding Alcatraz is the answer, but they do like the like of sending our worst criminals top laces that will be remote and will become synonymous with a thoroughly miserable experience for the inmates. And some of their ideas for how to do this are out of this world.

Finally, they roll their eyes at Michelle Obama’s latest White House grievances—this time about paying for their own private meals and also travel for their children when the president wasn’t with them. Jim and Greg are tired of how the Obamas continue to portray themselves as victims while enjoying elite status—but are enjoy seeing how their political influence continues to fade within the Democratic Party.

IRS Eyes Harvard, Bernie Boosts Socialist in Key Senate Race, Clooney’s ‘Brave’ Biden Letter

Join Scot and Greg as they dig into the IRS possibly revoking Harvard’s tax-exempt status, Bernie Sanders backing a truly radical Senate candidate in Michigan, and CNN’s over-the-top praise for George Clooney’s 2024 call to replace Joe Biden.

First, they analyze reports that the IRS may strip Harvard of its tax-exempt status. Scot emphasizes that this issue should be treated separately from the Biden administration’s efforts to withhold federal funds over the school’s failure to meet anti-Semitism standards. The guys also mull over whether such an action by the IRS would make it easier for a future Democrat administration to take aim at conservative institutions, or whether the left will do that regardless of what the right does now.

Next, they spotlight Bernie Sanders endorsing far-left candidate Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate in Michigan. El-Sayed is known for supporting government-controlled health care, taxpayer-funded college (dubbed “free” college by the left), and for his hostility toward Israel. But Scot cautions that El-Sayed is an articulate speaker, boasts a successful medical background, and could receive glowing media coverage similar to Barack Obama back in 2004.

Finally, they call out CNN’s Jake Tapper for heaping excessive praise on George Clooney’s “brave” letter to the New York Times editor urging Democrats to replace Joe Biden after last year’s debate. Scot and Greg see it as a transparent effort by the media and left-wing elites to rewrite history and pretend it was impossible to know about Biden’s cognitive decline before the debate.

First, they applaud a Democrat in the Illinois legislature for introducing the BEARS Act, which would require professional sports teams to win at least half their games three times in five years to qualify for taxpayer-funded stadium projects. While Jim and Greg oppose any public funding for stadiums, they argue that if it must happen, teams should have to earn it.

Next, they dissect an embarrassing correction from the Associated Press. The AP falsely reported that Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said President Trump and Russia’s Vladimir Putin were “very good friends,” when she was actually referring to Trump and India’s Narendra Modi. Greg notes how these corrections always seem to fix a story that falsely painted the right in a negative light. Jim explains the journalistic standards that should prevent such errors.

Finally, they react to the New York Times finally admitting that governments misled the public about the COVID outbreak and many pandemic-related policies. While they welcome the acknowledgment, they have no sympathy for the Times and others who spent years attacking anyone who questioned the official narrative. Jim also highlights how conservative instincts helped drive the momentum toward the truth about COVID’s origins and more.

Moving to the Nevada battleground, they discuss the latest mixed results for the GOP. Early voting trends show Republicans gaining a lot of ground in this cycle, but a recent Nevada Supreme Court ruling allows mail-in ballots to be counted even if received days after Election Day and without a postmark.

They also tackle the latest efforts from the left-leaning media to target online conservative content. Ben Shapiro highlighted an email he received from a New York Times reporter about an upcoming piece that critiques right-leaning YouTube channels based on data from the Soros-funded Media Matters for America. They slam the Times’ reliance on the far-left MMFA’s analysis and the implications for conservative voices online.

Finally, they cover disturbing reports from Washington and Oregon of incendiary devices placed in ballot drop boxes, leading to some serious ballot damage. Jim and Greg want the perpetrators punished severely, but they also see this as just the latest sign that ballot drop boxes are a terrible idea for people interested in fair and secure elections.

Join Jim and Greg as they discuss more good polling for incumbent GOP senators and two key challengers, the sobering facts and projections about our massive debt and deficits, and the no good, very bad week for CBS News.

First, they break down promising polling for incumbent GOP senators like Florida’s Rick Scott and Texas’ Ted Cruz, as well as key challenger Tim Sheehy’s growing lead over Democrat Sen. Jon Tester in Montana. The outlook for a Republican Senate majority in 2025 is improving.

Next, they groan as new numbers and projections from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) show a $1.8 trillion deficit for this past fiscal year and an even bigger one expected for the year to come. The figures also show that just paying the interest on the debt cost taxpayers $892 billion in Fiscal Year 2024 and will be more than a trillion dollars next year. It’s unsustainable and neither party cares.

Finally, they chronicle the horrible week for CBS News. This includes network management chastising “CBS This Morning” Co-Host Tony Dokoupil for asking some tough questions of Ta-Nehisi Coates about his new book that’s very hostile towards Israel,  “60 Minutes” egregiously editing the interview with Kamala Harris, and network brass telling reporters not to say that Jerusalem is in Israel.
