Matching Menendez Convictions, China Helping Houthis Target U.S. Ships, Will DOJ Charge Cuomo?

April 22, 2025 by GregC

Listen to “Matching Menendez Convictions, China Helping Houthis Target U.S. Ships, Will DOJ Charge Cuomo?” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg for the 3 Martini Lunch as they dig into Nadine Menendez’s conviction in the same egregious corruption scandal that will soon send her husband, former New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez, to prison. They also cover new reports of a Chinese-linked company aiding the Houthis in targeting U.S. ships, and House Republicans pressing the Justice Department to prosecute former Gov. Andrew Cuomo for lying to Congress about his COVID-era nursing home cover-up.

First, they’re pleased to see Nadine Menendez found guilty on all 15 counts tied to a bribery scheme involving her husband, the Egyptian government, and over $100,000 in gold bars, cash, and other luxury gifts. Now Mr. and Mrs. Menendez have matching bracelets. Jim blasts the media for largely ignoring the case—arguing that if Bob Menendez were a Republican, this scandal would dominate headlines daily. They also wonder whether Bob Menendez’s begging for a pardon will actually convince President Trump to give him one.

Next, they react to alarming reports that a Chinese government-linked company is assisting the Iran-backed Houthis in targeting U.S. warships and other American vessels in the Red Sea. Jim calls it another front in a proxy war with China and was forced to find foreign press accounts to evaluate the effectiveness of recent U.S. airstrikes.

Finally, they look at House Republicans urging Attorney General Pam Bondi to charge Andrew Cuomo with lying under oath. Despite this and a $450,000 taxpayer-funded settlement to a sexual harassment victim, Cuomo continues to lead the NYC mayoral race by a wide margin.

Harvard Pres. Finally Resigns, Biden’s Truly Brutal Numbers, Sen. Menendez Indicted Again

January 3, 2024 by GregC

Listen to “Harvard Pres. Finally Resigns, Biden’s Truly Brutal Numbers, Sen. Menendez Indicted Again” on Spreaker.

After no good martinis to kick off the year on Tuesday, Jim and Greg have two on tap for today!

First, they welcome the resignation of Harvard University Pres. Claudine Gay following scandals over her congressional testimony about speech advocating genocide on campus plus dozens of examples of plagiarism in her academic work. They also get a good laugh as CNN wears out its Thesaurus trying to defend Pres. Gay’s academic work.

Then they dissect new poll numbers showing President Biden at just 38 percent approval and doing very poorly among Hispanics and young adults. Jim explains why Gen Z and some millennials are fed up with Biden.

Finally, another year and another round of indictments for New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez. This time the allegations concern his relationship with Qatar but there are still gold bars involved. Jim wonders why so so few Democrats are doing much of anything to force Menendez out of office or at least off of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, which has access to classified information.

December 5, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Gov. Burgum Drops Out, Arlington House Explosion, Fetterman & Santos Troll Menendez” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they applaud North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum for withdrawing after not qualifying for this week’s debate and realizing he will not be the GOP nominee.
They also discuss the house explosion in Arlington, Virginia, Monday night and the bizarre string of social media posts from the homeowner in the days leading up to the police being called, shots being fired, and house blowing up.
Finally, they react to Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman using expelled former New York Rep. George Santos to pressure indicted New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez to resign.

October 13, 2023 by GregC

Join Jim and Greg as they welcome the news that the U.S. is refreezing the six billion dollars is freed up for Iran as part of the hostage swap announced on 9/11. Will it stay frozen? They also discuss the Hamas leader declaring today a “Day of Rage” against Israel and how he is clearly looking to foment violence and bloodshed. Menendez Indicted, McCormick’s Clear Path, Bipartisan Dress Code Demands

September 22, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Menendez Indicted, McCormick’s Clear Path, Bipartisan Dress Code Demands” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they serve up three good martinis related to the U.S. Senate. First, they welcome the pursuit of justice in what appears to be a lot of evidence against New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez and his wife on bribery and other accusations. They’re also glad to see Pennsylvania Republicans seemingly uniting around David McCormick in the tough fight to unseat incumbent Sen. Bob Casey, Jr. next year. Finally, they’re pleased that some prominent Democrats are joining most Republicans in demanding that Majority Leader Chuck Schumer reinstate the dress code on the Senate floor.

Dems Face Migrant Reality, GOP’s Avoidable Losses, Gold Bar Bribery?

September 21, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Dems See Migrant Reality, GOP’s Avoidable Losses, Gold Bar Bribery?” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they welcome Democrats like New York Gov. Kathy Hochul acknowledging that cities and states cannot just accept an unlimited number of illegal immigrants – the same position Republicans were savaged for just a few years ago. They also wince as Republicans lose two very winnable seats in key state legislative races, but they hope other Republicans around the nation learn some important lessons from these defeats. Finally, they’re stunned and more than a bit amused by the news that New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez is under investigation for being paid $400,000 in gold bars to intervene on someone’s behalf at the Justice Department.

Is Menendez Vulnerable? Major Maui Mistakes, Trump’s Odd Request

August 18, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Is Menendez Vulnerable? Major Maui Mistakes, Trump’s Odd Request” on Spreaker.

Jim and Greg begin today’s podcast with a tribute to former New York Sen. James Buckley. The brother of National Review Founder William F. Buckley, Jr., Jim Buckley served the nation with honor in World War II and then in all three branches of the federal government, including chief judge of the DC Circuit Court of Appeals. He was 100 years old.

Then they serve up their usual martinis, starting with a new Monmouth Poll showing New Jersey Sen. Robert Menendez has just a 35 percent approval rating heading into an election year – thanks in part to yet another federal investigation examining allegations of corruption. They also wince at all the apparent mistakes made by local officials before and during the horrific wildfires that devastated Lahaina. Finally, they’re curious why Trump is urging all the other Republican presidential candidates to drop out if he has such a huge lead.

Timestamps:

0:21 – Remembering former Senator and Judge James Buckley.

3:04 – New Jersey Sen. Menendez suffers low approval amidst another federal probe. Could the GOP have a chance to unseat him next year?

10:17 – Government mistakes made the Hawaii wildfire devastation even worse.

17:36 – Trump urges all other GOP presidential candidates to drop out.

Joe Rogan vs. the Mob, ‘Mother of All Sanctions,’ Becerra Getting the Boot?

January 31, 2022 by GregC

Listen to “Joe Rogan vs. the Mob, ‘Mother of All Sanctions,’ Becerra Getting the Boot?” on Spreaker.
Join Jim and Greg as they dissect the left’s campaign to cancel Joe Rogan, Rogan’s response, and the critical question from a NYT reporter. They also welcome bipartisan sanctions aimed at Russia if it invades Ukraine but deeply groan at the pathetic description of the bill as “the mother of all sanctions.” And they assess reports that the Biden White House is deeply frustrated with HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra and discussing who could do a better job.

California’s $77 Billion Blunder, What’s so Bad about DUI’s? Booker’s War on Meat

February 13, 2019 by GregC

Listen to “California’s $77 Billion Blunder, What’s so Bad about DUI’s? Booker’s War on Meat” on Spreaker.

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America react to California Gov. Gavin Newsom greatly scaling back high-speed rail in the state, proving once again that the concept is not the dream solution that liberals think it is.  They also slam New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez for being outraged that people entering the U.S. illegally and illegal immigrants caught driving drunk are treated like criminals.  And they have fun with New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker declaring that meat consumption is destroying the planet and that he wants to make the existing model of the food system obsolete.

Toss-Up in New Jersey, Strong Economic Growth, Dems Dump Avenatti

October 26, 2018 by GregC

Listen to “Toss-Up in New Jersey, Strong Economic Growth, Dems Dump Avenatti” on Spreaker.

It’s all good martinis today!  Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America react to the breaking news of an arrest in the case of pipe bomb-type devices sent to prominent Democrats.  Then, they welcome the news that the Cook Political Report is moving the New Jersey U.S. Senate race to the toss-up column as a result of the immense ethical baggage hampering Sen. Bob Menendez.  They also applaud 3.5 percent economic growth in the third quarter.  And they enjoy watching the left inch away from attorney Michael Avenatti after his efforts to sink Brett Kavanaugh backfired and he says a white male should be the Democratic nominee in 2016.
