Making Sense of the Midterms

November 9, 2022 by GregC

Listen to “Making Sense of the Midterms” on Spreaker.

Jim and Greg shake off the surprise of of an underwhelming midterm election for Republicans to dissect why Democrats were able to win so many races that the GOP seemed to have a good shot at. They chronicle the key races that got away, cheer the big wins in places like Florida and Texas, and note that the Republicans still have a good chance at winning the House and have a path left to claiming the majority in the Senate. And they try to determine what the GOP need to do differently or better in future election cycles.

Where We Stand in the 2022 Midterms

August 10, 2022 by GregC

Listen to “Where We Stand in the 2022 Midterms” on Spreaker.

Jim and Greg continue their week of special podcasts by focusing on the critical 2022 midterm elections.  They start by looking at the most competitive U.S. Senate races and come to different conclusions about which party is likely to be in control of the Senate next year. They also look at the race for the House, which is likely to swing back to GOP control, but is it a lock and how big of a GOP majority is reasonable to expect?  Finally, they examine the highest profile governor races, which may produce presidential contenders before too long.

Americans Reject Genocide Olympics, Blue States Flip on Masks, Biden’s Science Advisor Saga

February 8, 2022 by GregC

Listen to “Americans Reject Genocide Olympics, Blue States Flip on Masks, Biden’s Science Advisor Saga” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they applaud their countrymen for their refusal to watch the Beijing Winter Olympics, handing NBC terrible ratings. They laugh at the sudden change in “The Science” as Democratic governors realize mask mandates in schools are unpopular. And President Biden’s tough talk on workplace bullying proves ineffective as it took a two month investigation to fire science advisor Eric Lander.

Better Polls, Reporter Curses James, Missed GOP Chances, Predictions

November 6, 2018 by GregC

Listen to “Better Polls, Reporter Curses James, Missed GOP Chances, Predictions” on Spreaker.

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America kick off Election Day by improving their mood from Monday and welcoming the final polls which seem hopeful for many Republican candidates.  They also shake their heads over the Michigan newspaper reporter who cursed GOP Senate candidate John James after she thought she had hung up the phone after leaving a voicemail.  And they offer up predictions for the House, Senate and key governor’s races while wondering why Republicans aren’t doing better in a number of winnable races.

Wages Rising, GOP Faces Gubernatorial Disasters, Kanye’s ‘Yexit’

October 31, 2018 by GregC

Listen to “Wages Rising, GOP Faces Gubernatorial Disasters, Kanye’s ‘Yexit'” on Spreaker.

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America are happy to see new reports showing the highest wage growth in a decade and the highest consumer confidence since 2000.  They also groan as dismal GOP prospects in major governors’ races could leave Democrats leading 12 of the 13 most populous states after the midterm elections.  And they do a terrible job of faking their shocked faces as Kanye West says he was used politically and is now “distancing himself from politics.”

GOP Governors Look Strong, Big Deficits Coming Back, Memo Mania

February 1, 2018 by GregC

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America see decent prospects for Republicans governors in the 2018 midterms, as they are glad to see the ten most popular governors in the U.S. are all Republicans and that many of the GOP’s least popular governors are not running for re-election.  They also groan as Treasury Department officials project nearly trillion dollar deficits returning this fiscal year.  And they get dizzy trying to follow all the accusations and counter-attacks related to the House Intelligence Committee FISA memo, concluding that the more information that gets released the better – from all sides – so long as sources and methods are not compromised.

Popular GOP Governors, Turbulence for United, Return to Dueling?

April 11, 2017 by GregC

http://dateline.radioamerica.org/podcast/3-Martini-Lunch-4-11-17.mp3

Ian Tuttle of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America cheer the resignation of Alabama GOP Gov. Robert Bentley and a new poll showing the nation’s ten most popular governors are all Republicans.  They also get to the bottom line of what went wrong on the United Airlines flight – quick escalation of hostilities and a failure to let capitalism solve the problem.  And they get a kick out of Oregon possibly removing a ban on dueling from the state constitution.
