Widespread China Protests, Iran’s Blinding Crackdown, Trump’s Unappetizing Guests

November 28, 2022 by GregC

Listen to “Widespread China Protests, Iran’s Blinding Crackdown, Trump’s Unappetizing Guests” on Spreaker.

After a brief discussion of the Jets decisive victory over the Bears, Jim and Greg cheer on the brave protesters in China who are fed up with the CCP’s suffocating COVID policies and demanding other freedoms in the face of a repressive regime. They also wince as an Iranian paramilitary group violently confronts protesters and even blinds many of them. And they react to Trump’s dinner with Kanye West last week that also included Milo Yiannopoulos and Nick Fuentes – a trio that Jim refers to as “the Mount Rushmore of lunatics.”

Calling out Biden’s Lie, Dems’ Absurd Economic Message, Boston Globe’s Iran Insanity

June 2, 2022 by GregC

Listen to “Calling out Biden’s Lie, Dems’ Absurd Economic Message, Boston Globe’s Iran Insanity” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they credit the Washington Post for calling out a blatant Biden lie about energy policy in his recent Wall Street Journal column. They also shake their heads as Biden’s messaging on the economy appears to be that the economy is great and we just don’t appreciate it and that he has a plan for inflation when he already admits that he doesn’t. Finally, they slam the Boston Globe for urging Biden to remove Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps from our terrorism list on the very same day FBI Director Christopher Wray says Iran tried a cyberattack against Boston Children’s Hospital.

NYT Comes Clean on Hunter’s Laptop, The Utterly Useless UN, Another Biden Gift to Iran?

March 17, 2022 by GregC

Listen to “NYT Comes Clean on Hunter’s Laptop, The Utterly Useless UN, Another Biden Gift to Iran?” on Spreaker.
Join Jim and Greg as they roll their eyes at the overdue admission from the New York Times that the Hunter Biden laptop was not Russian misinformation, but a real story as the New York Post reported in October 2020. They shame the United Nations for being an expensive “Debate Society” that has proven itself completely useless in solving international issues. And despite its long record of evil, including the targeting and killing of American troops, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps may soon lose its “Foreign Terrorist Organization” tag as part of the ongoing nuclear negotiations.

Iran’s Horrific Coronavirus Response

April 6, 2020 by GregC

Listen to “Iran’s Horrific Coronavirus Response” on Spreaker.

Iran was one of the first nations afflicted with Coronavirus after it moved on from China, but the Iranian regime’s callous indifference and calculated cruelty towards its own people could result in much bigger consequences than the virus might inflict.

Alireza Jafarzadeh is deputy director of the National Council of Resistance of Iran.  He says the response to the virus has been nothing short of appalling.

According to Jafarzadeh, the regime denied the virus existed in the country for three weeks and kept flights to and from China at a robust pace. He says the mullahs and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps are stockpiling vital medical supplies. Instead of distributing them to the medical professionals or the public, they are giving preference to proxy groups in other countries and selling other materials to the highest bidders.

He says there is no urgency in helping the public, only on how to maximize profits from the crisis.

“This is a regime that intervenes in the most personal aspects of the life of the citizen.  You can’t even have a party in your own home,” said Jafarzadeh. “Yet, when there is a crisis this big, the regime is nowhere to be found.”

Listen to Jafarzadeh’s full discussion with Radio America’s Greg Corombos as he explains why sanctions relief is not necessary to help the people of Iran and why the demand for regime change will be greater than ever once this crisis is over.

Big Questions – and Answers – Following Soleimani Strike

January 3, 2020 by GregC

Listen to “Big Questions – and Answers – Following Soleimani Strike” on Spreaker.

The Iranian military figure responsible for targeting and killing thousands of people, including hundreds of U.S. troops, was killed in a drone strike in Iraq early Friday morning, along with several other key figures connected with Iranian-sponsored terrorism in the Middle East.

But the killing of Qassem Soleimani is sparking fierce debate.  President Trump says he acted to stop a war while his critics claim he’s on the brink of starting one.  They also argue Trump should have sought congressional approval or at least consulted with Democratic leaders before commencing the strike.  And are we on the verge of a full-scale war with Iran?

Retired U.S. Navy Capt. Chuck Nash studies Iran closely.  In this conversation with Greg Corombos, Nash explains why he believes the attack on Soleimani and his associates was fully warranted, whether Trump had an obligation to inform Congress of the attack, the dilemma now facing Iranian leaders, and how a regime change inside Iran must happen from within.

U.S. Stopped Iran in Nick of Time

May 6, 2019 by GregC

Listen to “U.S. Stopped Iran in Nick of Time” on Spreaker.

The U.S. likely stopped an Iranian attack on American personnel or other interests with little time to spare by announcing an aircraft carrier and bomber group are headed to the Middle East, and retired U.S. Navy Captain Chuck Nash says the statement released by the Trump administration tells us a lot even if we have no deals about the thwarted plot.

National Security Adviser John Bolton announced the move Sunday due to “troubling and escalatory indications and warnings.”  He further stated the deployment decision is designed “to send a clear and unmistakable message to the Iranian regime that any attack on United States interests or on those of our allies will be met with unrelenting force.”

“The United States is not seeking war with the Iranian regime, but we are fully prepared to respond to any attack, whether by proxy, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or regular Iranian forces,” continued Bolton.

Nash calls Bolton’s language about troubling and escalatory indications and warnings is”pretty unambiguous.”

“That is language that means we have verifiable evidence.  Verifiable evidence could be signals intelligence backed by movements on the ground, where you see not just a plan being discussed where it could be a fake but you actually see forces or people moving into positions that would follow along to where it’s just chatter,” said Nash.

Nash also translated into more plain language.

“I think what he is laying out to the Iranian regime is, ‘We gotcha.  OK?  We gotcha.  We know what’s going on.’  That will get them to back down because their plan is obviously blown,” said Nash.

“Whatever it was, we found out about it and now they know that we know and if they go through with it, not only is the plan likely to fail but they’re likely to reap severe repercussions,” he added.

Nash also elaborated on what the USS Abraham Lincoln and the bomber group would do once in position, assuming Iran doesn’t lash out.  He says Navy and Air Force leaders have constantly updated plans to counter any Iranian attempts to close the Straits of Hormuz, which connects the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman and eventually the Indian Ocean.

“They could try to close it with surface-to-surface missiles and mines or their submarines or surface units and small boat swarms,” said Nash.

He also says the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which swears allegiance to Supreme Ayatollah Ali Khameini rather than the nation of Iran, is most likely to cause any mischief in the Persian Gulf.

Listen to the full podcast to hear more of Nash’s analysis on message Bolton is sending Iran, why Iran is looking to attack us, and how Iran is likely reacting to its plot being exposed.

‘The Whole Situation Changes:’ Iranian Resistance Cheers Terrorist Designation

April 8, 2019 by GregC

Listen to “‘The Whole Situation Changes:’ Iranian Resistance Cheers Terrorist Designation” on Spreaker.

The U.S. designated the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a foreign terrorist organization Monday, and a leading Iranian resistance group says this action will starve the Iranian regime of funds and lead to a more peaceful region.

“From the moment it was founded, the IRGC’s mandate was to defend and export the regime’s mission by whatever means possible.  The IRGC institutionalized terrorism shortly after its inception, directing horrific attacks against the Marine barracks in Beirut in 1983 and the U.S. embassy annex in 1984,” said U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) has pleaded with the U.S. to make this designation for years and says this decision could be a real game-changer.

“The Iranian regime has benefited from its terrorism, from its hostage-taking.  It has used terrorism as a tool to leverage, to gain concessions from western countries over the past four decades,” said Alireza Jafarzadeh, deputy director of the NCRI’s Washington office.

“Today, with this (foreign terrorist organization) designation, the whole situation changes.  It puts the Iranian regime in the defensive position.  It demoralizes the revolutionary guard and their proxies and the groups that they are supporting and sponsoring in the region.

“It actually helps dry up the resources for the militia groups that are funded by the revolutionary guard,” said Jafarzadeh.

The Iranian government is furious at the IRGC being labeled a foreign terrorist organization.  More than 250 members of the Iranian parliament signed a letter vowing to “answer any action taken against this force with reciprocal action.”

But Jafarzadeh says not to worry about the howls of protest.

“Honestly, the mullahs only understand the language of force.  They back down when confronted with firmness,” he said.

Listen to the full podcast to learn how this terrorist designation will clamp down on American and European investment in Iran and why Jafarzadeh says that will lead to a more peaceful Middle East.

Pompeo Punishes Iran, Nielsen Leaves DHS, Can Alabama Vote for An Auburn Guy?

April 8, 2019 by GregC

Listen to “Pompeo Punishes Iran, Nielsen Leaves DHS, Can Alabama Vote for An Auburn Guy?” on Spreaker.

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America applaud the Trump Administration for finally designating the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps a “foreign terrorist organization” after the group has for years sponsored and participated in terrorism throughout the Middle East. They also worry that the revolving door of cabinet officials in the Trump administration is causing too much instability as Kirstjen Nielsen resigns as secretary of the Department Homeland Security. And they wonder if former Auburn football coach Tommy Tuberville has a chance to overcome one of the nation’s fiercest college football rivalries and win the GOP nomination for the U.S. Senate race in Alabama.

The Iranian Terrorism Funding Machine

May 8, 2017 by GregC

http://dateline.radioamerica.org/podcast/5-8-alireza-blog.mp3

The Iranian exile group that recently unveiled evidence of Iran violating the terms of the nuclear agreement is now detailing how the regime is allegedly fleecing its own people to fund the military and bankroll Hezbollah.

The National Council of Resistance of Iran, or NCRI, is responsible for exposing Iranian nuclear ambitions some 15 years ago.  Now the group is releasing, “Iran: The Rise of the Revolutionary Guards’ Financial Empire.”  An additional subhead reads, “How the Supreme Leader and the IRGC Rob the People to Fund International Terror.”

The book maintains that despite appearances of an active private sector, the regime and its elite military wing, the Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps, or IRGC, really have a stranglehold on economy.  The regime touts an emphasis on privitization, but that means something very different in Iran.

“Back in 2005, the supreme leader basically brought this nice looking plan called privitization, turning everything to the private sector,” said Alireza Jafarzadeh, deputy director of the NCRI’s Washington office.

“In fact, that was really a restructuring of the Iranian economy to give the ownership of a wide range of industries and institutions to those either associated directly with the supreme leader or with the Iranian Revolutionary Guards,” said Jafarzadeh.

He says there was nothing fair about this embrace of “privitization.”

“The government, based on the constitution, has the right to seize and confiscate property if that property is obtained through what they call illegitimate means.  ‘Illegitimate means’ is something they can define any way they want to,” said Jafarzadeh.

In essence, most of the Iran economy is in the hands of just over a dozen government cronies.

“We’re talking about 14 major powerhouses that are controlling the entire economy.  All of these 14 are either entirely controlled by the supreme leader or by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards,” said Jafarzadeh, who says just one of these entities is sitting on about $90 billion and together the 14 are rolling in hundreds of billions of dollars.

All major sectors of the economy are involved.

“We’re talking about large mines, primary industries including downstream oil and gas industry, power generation, foreign commerce, banks, insurance, roads, railroads, airlines, shipping companies, food companies, agriculture, you name it,” said Jafarzadeh.

Jafarzadeh says the Iranian people are struggling more than ever to get by, so where is this money going?  He says it’s not hard to figure it out, it’s going to the military, meaning the buildup of the nuclear program.

“The official budget is anywhere from 30-35 percentof the budget is allocated to what they call defense-related issues.  On top of all of that, the money they make from running the economy is directly funneled to these programs, including the nuclear weapons program,” said Jafarzadeh.

But that’s not the only places the money goes.  Jafarzadeh says a lot of money also goes to foundations with troubling ties.

“It’s supposed to be a religious foundation to help the poor, but it has turned into a foundation that actually funds terror in Lebanon.  Another foundation…sends a lot of money to Lebanon to support Hezbollah there,” said Jafarzadeh.

While Jafarzadeh believes the evidence of Iran commandeering the economy through a private facade to build nukes and fund terror is strong enough to take to the United Nations, he says there is something even more effective that the U.S. State Department could do by itself.

“By designation the IRGC as a terrorist organization, they can close all of these loopholes.  It would make it illegal for any U.S. person or U.S. entity to deal with any of these institutions run by the IRGC or associated with them,” said Jafarzadeh.

“It would make life a lot more difficult for the IRGC to transfer funds and to all kinds of things they’re doing in the region,” said Jafarzadeh.

Jafarzadeh says the dire straits of the people is also on the brink of boiling over as they watch their government hoarding resources rather than developing ways to help the people.

“Over the past year, we had over 6,000 anti-government demonstrations and protest acts, a lot of them economically driven to begin with but they quickly turned into political slogans by the people who hold the rulers as big thieves who are plundering their resources,” said Jafarzadeh.

“If people thought that things were volatile in 2009, it’s even more volatile now and there is certainly great prospects for change,” he added.
