And They Wonder Why We Don’t Trust Government

February 22, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “And They Wonder Why We Don’t Trust Government” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they give credit to the New York Times for admitting that mask mandates accomplished nothing, either for individuals or larger communities. It did lead to lot of angry confrontations, and apparently our government officials have learned nothing. They also discuss the growing media attention to the toxic train accident in Ohio and how government response to a crisis is often proportional to the amount of media coverage a story gets. Finally, they hammer the Defense Department and the Air Force for releasing the confidential military files of Republican lawmakers and candidates to opposition research firms working with Democrats.

Fighting for Freedom, Skyrocketing Rent, Olympic Disgrace

February 18, 2022 by GregC

Listen to “Fighting for Freedom, Skyrocketing Rent, Olympic Disgrace” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they hope the American right’s support for the Canadian Freedom Convoy will refocus the GOP on championing freedom in this year’s midterms and far beyond. They also shudder as Americans in major cities are seeing 30-40 percent increases in rent but also explain how short-sighted government policies are a major contributing factor. And they discuss the ratings bust of the Beijing Winter Olympics and how Russia and the International Olympic Committee have disgraced the games to a dangerous level.

Manchin vs. ‘Fiscal Insanity,’ Schumer Backs Down, Feds Blocking Afghan Rescues

September 30, 2021 by GregC

Listen to “Manchin vs. ‘Fiscal Insanity,’ Schumer Backs Down, Feds Blocking Afghan Rescues” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they cautiously cheer Sen. Joe Manchin for calling the Dems’ $3.5 trillion wish list “fiscal insanity.”  They also welcome the news that Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell was able to force Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to agree to fund the government without raising the debt ceiling.  And they’re enraged as the government keeps doing more to thwart than assist private rescue missions out of Afghanistan.

Manchin’s Spending Pause, Weak August Jobs Report, Autocratic Aussies

September 3, 2021 by GregC

Listen to “Manchin’s Spending Pause, Weak August Jobs Report, Autocratic Aussies” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they welcome Sen. Joe Manchin’s warning that another massive spending bill would saddle our nation with a lot more inflation and debt. They also wince as the August jobs numbers come in far below expectations. Is it really all due to the Delta variant or is there more to it? And they refuse to throw any shrimps on the barbie for the Australian government as the country goes crazy with COVID lockdowns and crushing freedom.

Hong Kong Courage, Even More CDC Confusion, Bungled Federal Rent Relief

July 30, 2021 by GregC

Listen to “Hong Kong Courage, Even More CDC Confusion, Bungled Federal Rent Relief” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they cheer the bravery of people in Hong Kong publicly booing the Chinese national anthem, which can now land you in big trouble under Chinese control. They also turn a scrutinizing eye on the latest leaks from the CDC that supposedly suggest the Delta variant is much worse than previously thought. And they’re not exactly surprised that the federal government – and government at other levels – has botched a program designed to provide rent relief.

Abbott Acts on Border Crisis, Stunning COVID Cover Up, Oregon Counties Want to Secede

June 3, 2021 by GregC

Listen to “Abbott Acts on Border Crisis, Stunning COVID Cover Up, Oregon Counties Want to Secede” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they credit Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for taking action on the border crisis while the Biden administration dithers. They also react to the explosive Vanity Fair story exposing how State Department officials and scientists furiously tried to stop investigations into whether COVID-19 leaked from a Wuhan lab. And they sympathize with residents in eastern Oregon who want to secede to Idaho. While they think the likelihood of that happening is low, they also devise an incentive system for state governments to improve.

Major National Security Hack, Biden’s Hunter Problem, Letting Old White People Die

December 18, 2020 by GregC

Listen to “Major National Security Hack, Biden’s Hunter Problem, Letting Old White People Die” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they discuss what appear to be lengthy, intrusive hacking operations into some of our nation’s most sensitive national security data. They also roll their eyes at Joe Biden’s defense of his son. And they unload on a University of Pennsylvania “ethicist” who want all frontline personnel to be vaccinated before the elderly because the elderly are whiter.

Reasons for Optimism, Newsom’s Ugly Politics, Frustrated by Freedom

May 18, 2020 by GregC

Listen to “Reasons for Optimism, Newsom’s Ugly Politics, Frustrated by Freedom” on Spreaker.

It’s the first-ever al fresco edition of the Three Martini Lunch!  Join Jim and Greg as they welcome encouraging news on the search for the coronavirus and that experts believe the economy might start improving in June. They also roll their eyes as California Gov. Gavin Newsom says the federal government must bail out his state or else first responders will be the first ones laid off.  And they fire back at a Washington Post opinion writer who claims Americans would do much better against the coronavirus if we weren’t so skeptical of government and protective of our liberties.

Assessing the Coronavrus Response

March 31, 2020 by GregC

Listen to “Assessing the Coronavrus Response” on Spreaker.

The debate over the federal response to the coronavirus threat has been raging for weeks but what goes into a response of this scope? How do the different agencies coordinate, how do the feds collaborate with the states, and how does the private sector partner with the government so seamlessly?

Galen Institute President Grace-Marie Turner addresses these questions and more in this interview with Radio America’s Greg Corombos.

Vaccine Progress, The Shutdown Debate, Ohio Election Drama

March 17, 2020 by GregC

Listen to “Vaccine Progress, The Shutdown Debate, Ohio Election Drama” on Spreaker.

The home version of the Three Martini Lunch is now up and running but there is always a stool for you! After Jim revels in the news that Tom Brady’s 20-year run with the New England Patriots is over, he and Greg tackle the good, bad, and crazy martinis of the day. First, they welcome the news from Dr. Anthony Fauci that a possible coronavirus vaccine is already in the first stages of testing. They also wonder just how restrictive government officials are going to get as they down society in an effort to confront coronavirus now that San Francisco is ordering residents to shelter in place, groups larger than 10 people are discouraged, and New Jersey is dabbling with curfews. Finally, they weight both sides of the furious political and legal fight in Ohio after Gov. Mike DeWine ordered Tuesday’s primary to be postponed.
