December 27, 2024 by GregC

Listen to “2024 Martini Awards Part 4: Best Ideas, Worst Ideas, Boldest Tactics” on Spreaker.

More year-end awards today! Jim and Greg embark on the fourth installment of the 3 Three Martini Lunch Awards. Today, they offer up their selections for the Best Political Idea, Worst Political Idea, and Boldest Political Tactics for the year.

They start with the best ideas of the year. Jim chooses a clear message that voters sent on Election Day that was long overdue. Meanwhile, Greg’s award goes to the clever tactics that successfully eliminated one of the world’s most prominent terrorists..

Then it’s time for the worst political ideas of the year, with both Jim and Greg finding many good options. Jim focuses on a ridiculous aspect of Biden’s Middle East policy. Whereas, Greg highlights one of the most stunning political miscalculations in recent memory.

Finally, they’re on to the boldest political tactics for 2024. Jim chooses a Trump campaign tactic and message that undoubtedly worked to perfection. And Greg salutes a group of athletes who sacrificed a lot to send a message that’s now yielding results.

Don’t miss Monday’s special edition as Jim and Greg reveal their choices for Most Overreported Story, Most Underreported Story, and the Best Story of 2024.

Portland Dumps Woke DA, Michigan GOP’s Petition Mishaps, College Students Resist Reading

May 22, 2024 by GregC

Listen to “Woke Portland DA Dumped, Michigan GOP’s Petition Mishaps, College Students Resist Reading” on Spreaker.

Greg and Jim dive into the latest conservative victories in the justice system, the Michigan GOP’s latest trouble with accusations of  fraudulent signatures, and the rise of college students’ mulish insistence on not completing assigned reading.
First, they kick off the episode with a double fisted martini: woke Portland DA Mike Schmidt looks like he will be ousted from office for his soft-on-crime policies. Additionally, Georgia Supreme Court Justice Andrew Pinson successfully fended off the challenge of former Rep. John Barrow, who campaigned primarily on a pro-abortion platform.
Next, they sigh and shake their heads at the Michigan GOP, which never seems to learn its lesson, as candidates are coming under fire for allegedly committing ballot signature fraud once again. They examine the poor condition that much of state-level GOP management has fallen into, in Michigan and beyond, and why gathering petition signatures is one of the most basic parts of politics.
Finally, they find themselves bewildered by the latest trend among college students, who are constantly demanding that professors lower coursework expectations and workload. They point out the paradox that, while Ivy League schools are getting more and more selective, college students across the board are learning less and show poorer work ethic than past generations.

Seinfeld vs. Woke Left, Columbia Radicals Running the Campus, U.S. Doesn’t Need a ‘Momala’

April 30, 2024 by GregC

Listen to “Seinfeld vs. Woke Left, Columbia Radicals Running the Campus, U.S. Doesn’t Need a ‘Momala'” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg today we they cheer Jerry Seinfeld for correctly accusing the woke left of killing comedy as we knew it for generations, hammer the administrators at Columbia University for continuing to let the inmates run the asylum, and cringe as Drew Barrymore (and way too many other Americans) see themselves as the children of our politicians.
First, they agree wholeheartedly with comedy legend Jerry Seinfeld’s contention that the woke left’s obsession with never being offended has effectively killed television comedies and many other forms of the art. And Jim adds that comedy is also a problem for the left because it helps people see their shared life experiences…and that’s bad for a movement who is constantly seeking to divide us.
Next, they unload on the president and other administrators at Columbia University. After setting another deadline for the pro-Hamas, anti-Israel demonstrators to clear their encampment, there were no consequences when the protesters ignored it. Later, the campus radicals took over an academic building and administrators are, thus far, doing nothing about it.
Finally, they groan as TV host Drew Barrymore tells Vice President Kamala Harris, “We need you to be Momala for the country.”Jim and Greg explain why they think it is painfully wrong for Americans to think of themselves as the children of our political leaders. However, this is nothing new, and they look back at a cringeworthy moment from a presidential campaign decades ago that provided momentum for this warped notion.

August 17, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Clinton + 25 Years, Woke Brands Suffer, YouTube’s Censoring, ‘Egg Producers'” on Spreaker.

It’s four martinis for the price of three today! Join Jim and Greg as they mark 25 years since President Clinton admitted his affair with intern Monica Lewinsky to a grand jury and in a prime time message to the nation. They chronicle how the left’s decision to protect Clinton at all costs impacts our politics and our culture to this day. They also highlight how sales remain horrible for Bud Light and Target many weeks after boycotts erupted over their promotion of the left’s cultural agenda. Then they slam YouTube for announcing it will censor any posts that contradict the policies of the World Health Organization. Finally, they sigh as the Deputy Health and Human Services Secretary lavishes praise upon an Alaska organization that wants women referred to as “egg producers” or the “gestational parent” and men as “XY individuals.”

Timestamps:

0:22 – 25 years since Pres. Clinton admitted his affair with Monica Lewinsky and the lingering impact of the left’s determination that Clinton face no consequences for lying about it and covering it up.

8:28 – Sales still stink for Bud Light and Target months after alienating customers by promoting the left’s cultural agenda.

15:08 – YouTube says it will censor any posts contradicting the policies of the World Health Organization.

20:31 – Deputy HHS Sec. praises Alaska group that wants women referred to as “egg producers” or “gestational parents” and men to be called “XY individuals.”

Abraham Accords Still Strong, Russia’s Ominous Moves, Air Force Speech Police

September 23, 2022 by GregC

Listen to “Abraham Accords Still Strong, Russia’s Ominous Moves, Air Force Speech Police” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they marvel at Israel selling an air defense system to the UAE, demonstrating the success of the Abraham Accords and best chance at stability in the Middle East. They also cringe as Russian soldiers are going house to house in eastern Ukrainian provinces, forcing them to vote in favor of leaving Ukraine and joining Russia.  And that’s on top of Vladimir Putin threatening more directly than ever that he might use nukes. Finally, they call out the “gender-inclusive” insanity at the Air Force Academy, where cadets are encouraged to stop using words like mom, dad, boyfriend, and girlfriend.

GOP Suburb Surge, USA Today Goes Woke, Gas Tax Hypocrisy

June 27, 2022 by GregC

Listen to “GOP Suburb Surge, USA Today Goes Woke, Gas Tax Hypocrisy” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they’re thrilled to see a significant shift in suburban voters from the Democrats to the GOP. They also react in horror as USA Today opinion writer David Mastio not only reveals that he was forces out of a job for saying that only women could have babies but that the whole Gannett network is catering to a woke ideology that has no interest in a diversity of opinion. And they discuss the bipartisan yawning over Biden’s call for a federal gas tax suspension and the hypocrisy of lawmakers like Washington Sen. Patty Murray, who hated the idea when a Republican was president but now supports it when Biden is in office and she’s up for re-election.

They also get a kick out of hearing that a number of House Democrats are furious at the man charged with leading their effort to keep the majority in 2022. And they shake their heads at a story showing how even traditional, private, and religious institutions are bowing to woke indoctrination.

Declaring China’s Genocide, Biden’s Woke Economy, Curious Stimulus Timing

January 20, 2021 by GregC

Listen to “Declaring China’s Genocide, Biden’s Woke Economy, Curious Stimulus Timing” on Spreaker.

As the Biden administration officially begins, join Jim and Greg as they cheer the U.S. for declaring a Chinese genocide against the Uighurs on President Trump’s final day in office. They also groan as Biden plans an economic policy around issues like race, gender equality and climate change rather than traditional metrics. And they’re surprised to see Democrats predict a COVID relief bill being delayed until March, although given what’s likely to be in it, we’re in no hurry to see much of it become law.
