DeSantis vs. Newsom, House Expels Santos, Is Biden Abandoning Israel?

December 1, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “DeSantis vs. Newsom, House Expels Santos, Is Biden Abandoning Israel?” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg for a very full Friday edition. First, they react to the passing of former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra O’Connor, who was President Reagan’s first nominee to the high court.

Then it’s on to the martinis as they dissect the Red State vs. Blue State debate between Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Fox News – including some of the best zingers from DeSantis.

They also cover the breaking news of the U.S. House of Representatives expelling New York Rep. George Santos after dozens of indictments and a scathing ethics report over alleged rampant corruption.

Finally, they blast Secretary of State Antony Blinken and President Biden for already growing impatient with how long Israel’s operation against Hamas is taking in Gaza.

Remembering Henry Kissinger, Hamas Kills More Israeli Civilians, Trump Supported by BLM?

November 30, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Remembering Henry Kissinger, Hamas Kills More Israeli Civilians, Trump Supported by BLM?” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they remember the long and complicated legacy of former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, who advised presidents for 60 years before his death Wednesday at the age of 100. They highlight Kissinger’s record and why he is deeply respected by some deeply reviled by others.

They also hammer Hamas for the deadly shootings of Israeli civilians in Jerusalem, including a pregnant teacher, and what this means for the temporary ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.

Finally, they scratch their heads after former President Trump claims he has the support of a former Black LIves Matter official and from the organization itself. While the veracity of the BLM support is drawing scrutiny, why would Trump want it in the first place?

Is Biden Getting Tough on Iran? Trump’s Twitter & Your Speech, The Feds & Mayor Adams

November 29, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Is Biden Getting Tough on Iran? Trump’s Twitter & Your Speech, The Feds & Mayor Adams” on Spreaker.

Former federal prosecutor and National Review Contributing Editor Andy McCarthy is in while Jim Geraghty is under the weather. Today, Greg and Andy discuss new sanctions from the U.S. Treasury Department against individuals and entities helping for finance Iran’s military and IRGC. But Andy explains why this step is hardly bold considering Iran’s recent actions against the U.S.

Andy also breaks down the legal and constitutional impact of Special Counsel Jack Smith not only demanding many different details about President Trump’s Twitter account but also Smith demanding the information of anyone who like, retweeted, or otherwise engaged with Trump in the months leading up to January 6th.

Finally, they test out Andy’s postulate that Democrats only prosecute other Democrats to protect Democrats. Is the FBI publicly digging into allegations of illegal fundraising in Adams’ orbit and possibly his ties to Turkey because that’s where the evidence leads or because Adams is now a thorn in the side of the Biden administration.

Biden’s Inflation Reality Check, Joe Wilts Under Leftist Pressure, Education Sec. Flunks Reagan 101

November 28, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Biden’s Inflation Reality Check, Joe Wilts Under Leftist Pressure, Education Sec. Flunks Reagan 101” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they wince at a new Bloomberg reports showing how much more Americans are paying for food, electricity, water, rent, childcare, and much more. But the report is an important rebuttal to the Biden administration’s gaslighting that the inflation problem has been solved.

They also groan at reports that just one day after Biden reasonably said he does not trust casualty figures from Hamas, the president buckled under criticism from Muslim leaders, said he was ashamed of himself and promised to do better.

Finally, they have some fun as Education Sec. Miguel Cardona appears to quote President Reagan unironically as having said he was from the government and was here to help. Of course, that’s exactly the opposite of what Reagan said.

U.S. Navy Thwarts Houthi Attack, The Israel-Hamas Pause, The U.S.-Canada Border Explosion

November 27, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “U.S. Navy Thwarts Houthi Attack, The Israel-Hamas Pause, The U.S.-Canada Border Explosion” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they return from Thanksgiving break with good, mixed, and crazy martinis. First, they cheer the U.S. Navy for ending a Houthi assault on an Israeli-linked ship off the coast of Yemen and then taking the pirates into custody.

They’re also thrilled that some women and children held hostage by Hamas are now home but they are wary of the growing pressure for Israel’s military pause to continue, which is a big advantage for Hamas.

Finally, they examine the mysterious car explosion at the U.S.-Canada border last week, early reports of terrorism, and the media’s habit of dropping a story when the narrative suddenly changes.

Black Friday Political Gifts for 2023

November 24, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “From SBF to Biden & Kamala to Congress, Our Black Friday Political Gifts for 2023” on Spreaker.

It’s Black Friday, the day retailers offer major deals to get shopper through their doors or online and hopefully guarantee finishing in the black for the year. Continuing a long 3 Martini Lunch tradition, Jim and Greg each offer up three gift ideas to political figures.

In the first round, Jim brings a practical gift for FTX founder, con man, and convict Sam Bankman-Fried while Greg finds a lovely present to break some tough news to Vice President Kamala Harris.

Next, Jim thinks of a gift President Biden can use on a daily basis while Greg offers medical appointments to prominent leaders who desperately need them.

Finally, Jim comes up with a gift to benefit his favorite football team in the relatively near future and Greg hopes his final offering can bring some political peace.

Enjoy the rest of your Thanksgiving vacation! Travel safely and join Jim and Greg again on Monday when they return to their usual format.

What We’re Politically Thankful for in 2023

November 22, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “What We’re Politically Thankful for in 2023” on Spreaker.

Continuing their long Thanksgiving tradition, Jim and Greg unveil their lists of things they are politically thankful for, although this year they don’t stick as close to politics as they have in past years. Jim reflects on last week’s Pro-Israel march in Washington and the stark contrast to the hateful and often violent demonstrations we’ve seen from the left for many years. Greg explains why he’s thankful for Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin despite a disappointing year for Republicans in the commonwealth.
Then it gets more personal, as Jim discusses how thankful he is for his family and that we never know how many Thanksgivings they will have together. He urges you to find common ground with your loved ones beyond politics. Greg echoes Jim’s thoughts but also highlights the many aspects of life for which we need to be thankful and to Whom we need to be thankful.
Finally, Jim gives thanks for the gift of humor to help us through one difficult news cycle after another, while Greg is grateful for the states giving parents more options on where to send their kids to school and how to pay for it.
There will be no episode of the 3 Martini Lunch on Thanksgiving Day. Join us the next day for our Black Friday special, when Jim and Greg select gifts for various political figures.

Climate Doomsday Reality Check, Biden Way Too Soft on Iran, Insane Border Wall Blame Game

November 21, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Climate Doomsday Reality Check, Biden Way Too Soft on Iran, Insane Border Wall Blame Game” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they appreciate new research from Trinity University in Ireland and The Ohio State University showing that the climate alarmists are way off and that increased carbon dioxide is absorbed by trees and others plants and makes them stronger – just like we learned in basic biology class. They also wince as the Biden administration continues to tread very lightly with Iran despite more than four dozen attacks on U.S. positions in the Middle East by Iran proxy groups and the hijacking of a ship in the Red Sea by Iran-backed Houthi rebels. Finally, they get a good laugh out of a USA TODAY story bemoaning  the serious injuries illegal immigrants are suffering by falling off of our new 30-foot high border walls. And of course, there’s no suggestion that the migrants are responsible for their own actions. No, it’s the wall’s fault – and the people that wanted it.

Remembering Mrs. Carter, Big Libertarian Win in Argentina, Biden’s Polls Get Worse, Media Malpractice on Debt

November 20, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “Remembering Mrs. Carter, Big Libertarian Win in Argentina, Biden’s Polls Get Worse, Media Malpractice on Debt” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they serve up three critical martinis after opening with thoughts on the passing of former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, who died Sunday at age 96.

Then they react to libertarian Javier Milei’s dominant win in Argentina’s presidential race amid a massive economic crisis there. They also note Milei’s unconventional approach to politics and the media’s reflexive opposition to him.

They also chronicle a Fox News poll showing showing voters trust Republicans to deal with issues ranging from the border to foreign policy and from crime to government spending – by a wide margin. And an NBC poll shows President Biden with his worst numbers yet. But can Republicans actually capitalize on all this?

Finally, they fume as Politico shifts from constantly demonizing any GOP calls for spending restraints to suddenly noticing out-of-control spending and huge interest payments on the debt – and are now demanding the House GOP majority do something about it.

MLB All-Star Game Returning to Georgia, Silver Election Linings in Virginia, Elon’s Very Wrong Tweet

November 17, 2023 by GregC

Listen to “MLB All-Star Game Returning to Georgia, Silver Election Linings in Virginia, Elon’s Very Wrong Tweet” on Spreaker.

Join Jim and Greg as they serve up two good martinis and a bad one to wrap up the week. First, they welcome Major League Baseball quietly announcing the 2025 All-Star Game will be in Atlanta, never mentioning that it removed the game from Atlanta in 2021 under the absurd pretext that Georgia’s new voting laws were racist and constituted voter suppression.

They’re also glad to report that were some positive results in last week’s Virginia elections, including a final reckoning for the Loudoun County prosecutor and school board who covered up a sexual assault in the name of diversity and even prosecuted the father of the victim instead of the perpetrator.

Finally, they dive into Elon Musk endorsing a post on X alleging Jews have a
“dialectical hatred of whites.”
